Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

bogie is just too far, I'd want to go for 3 days, then end up crashing the first day or something dumb. GB is far enough, SMP is really my limit. Full track is fun, but I really do like how GB has multiple configurations

Definitely GB is awesome. I'm really happy they finally did something there.

For Calabogie I was thinking of doing 2 days there. It definitely cuts into the track day budget. I might be able to combine it with a trip to Ottawa to visit some friends. I've only done a double header once. I hear ya, the risk of losing it all on day 1 is very real. Double headers at GB are much more likely, especially with me Ma living only 20 minutes from the track.

Thanks for the help with the vinyl Tim.Very happy! :D Now just gotta get out to get some track time.

Randy popped by today and monkeyed about a bit more with the shifter.... came to the same conclusion I did - goes up, down, not so easy.
Going to give Zdeno's a call and see if they can grab me the bracket that attaches to the shift shaft, as mine is pretty twisted. Hoping that that's what's causing not smooth shifting and creating a bind somewhere along the line.

Extend your offer a couple days maybe Dan?

And, here's a bruising update...

Ouch looks painful Tim. Sorry cant extend offer ... It was a sight unseen half offer lol. Hopefully it's just something minor (ish). I've got alot of experience on car engines but I'm scared of transmissions... I'll give U a hand if needed but it's gonna be a whole new ball game for both of us.

I've added a coupe videos to you tube, unedited as I don't have the time lately.

Thanks for swinging by and swapping out the shift linkages Dan... really appreciate it.

Looks like 2nd gear is kaput on Suzi... 3 to 6 up and down nice, 3 to 2 is wretched. 2-1 goes, but not well.

Talked to a fellow who does the street fighter thing -- has his own shop on the side of his main job at Tri City Cycle.
He says he'll help out with the engine swap I've been talking about with a few people. Figures it will take a good afternoon to do with a couple of people helping.

So, I'm looking at somewhere near the end of May or first weekend of June...
People who have said they'll help so far are (In no particular order):
Dave
Randy
Dan
Ian (TriCity guy)
and of course, me... arm should be healed most of the way by then with any luck.

Let me know which weekend works best for you! That way I can pick up the motor shortly before hand from Zdeno's.

If anyone else wants to swing by, even just to see how things are progressing you're more than welcome to.

Sorry, I passed you while Tim was still in the corner. They didn't have the flags out anymore...

I saw the video of your 'spill'.....
Was that your first time on a friggin' bike?!?! Early entries, not even close to the apex.....sheesh. I could've ran better lines on my Kan-o-Tuna!!
And then grabbing a handful of front brake while on the grass??? What the hell were you thinking?!?
And how the **** did you mess yourself up so bad on GRASS?? It's soft!!

All jokes aside, I hope this doesn't keep you down for too long! I missed the sound of Babs yesterday....

Your statements pretty much summed it up. Seriously. Terrible line going into last turn of first lap. Completely focused on the screw up for the next few turns before binning it. Same mental problem my kickboxing coach said I had - focusing on the past negative instead of moving on and focusing on what I'm doing at the present. Had the front brake on hard before running off onto the grass, released a second late, never recovered.

Not only did I mess myself up, but the bike too - which really hurts... *sigh*

Babs is there... sat on her yesterday.. fired her up for a minute, revved her a few times and annoyed the neighbours... ;-)

*UPDATE*
Called a few shops. Best price on transmission repair (if I bring them motor, removed from bike) is $600. 10 hours of labour from trained mechanics.... plus cost of parts... They suggested buying a motor from a wrecker and repairing the old one on my own time in the winter and either keeping it as a spare or selling it on Kijiji.
Double sigh....
