Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

Find out tomorrow morning about surgery...
Hope they do it...
Getting out of bed this morning was a real ordeal - bone must have shifted in my sleep.... took about 6 or 7 tries to get it lined up in place again... *OUCH*

I can't imagine they wouldn't bolt it up. A clean break like that will never heal right, and you're active, which they'll consider. When I broke my shoulder the surgeon said they wouldn't have fixed it if I wasn't active or if I were older (ie, retired).

Looks like the original date of July 8th for Mosport RDT wasn't right, or got scrubbed. From this thread:

Looking at http://www.motorcycletrackdays.ca/ July looks a bit empty unless we drop the big bucks and head to Calabogie (not happening for me this year).

I have a set of Q2's that has about 1 more day left in them, probably just reverse the front and run a Q2 on the back, but hoping to run slicks, really depends on the temperature though.

You mean run the Pirelli on the front and Dunlop on the back? They have very different profiles. Think it will handle okay? Long range forecast says 14°-18° and sunny. You should at least bring your slicks. I think Sandy swaps tires that aren't his for $15 each at the track.

bringing the slicks, yeah, we've run mixes before, as long as your front is equal to or grippier than the rear, they are a similar enough tire. If your doing slicks/dots, bit of a different story or vastly different profiles, but the tires aren't all that different. Need to wait a bit longer on the forcast closer to decide what to put on. Might just bring a spare set and have sandy flip them on.

I should have reversed the rear after the first day, but didn't think of it and went to drink beer instead

No problem Tim. Now we know 2003 SV650/SV1000 footrest components are the same. :)

I don't think I like nicknames, period. Call me whatever you want I guess. haha...

Jer, it seems okay. It was a little harder to shift than I'd expect (spinning the rear wheel and knocking it through the gears) but I've never felt an SV1000 tranny before. We might want to try idling it on the rear stand, holding the front brake, and click it through the gears without the clutch to make sure it goes nicely.

were you guys able to get it to shift gears after you took the linkage apart?

Yes. It was in 6th when I started playing with it. The linkage is fine, but the elbow looked like it had moved on the spline, so I took that off and put it in a better position. Went up and down through the gears a few times then left it in neutral.

the angle looked weird on it for sure when I saw it, as long as it goes through without resistance it'll be ok.

Hmm. Those dates seem like the monday of every long weekend... not ideal. What are you thinking... July 2nd? I think i could make that work.

Yeah I was thinking July 2nd or August 6th. Right now we have a 6 week gap from next Monday until June 18th SMP Long. I'm not sure how much money I'm going to have in the next little while for track days so that might be an okay thing. We need to see what's happening at GBR (and TMP?) in July and August to fill in until September 10th SMP Long again.

Here are some updated damage pics...

And the docs have decided to do NOTHING...
Bombarded me with 3 separate sets of X-rays.. about 9 in total.

Specialist says there's an 85% chance it will heal OK...
I'm not happy about it - I'd prefer a 100%.
Specialist says that if he's rebuilding a broken shoulder, and that piece is loose like it is in mine, he'll just take it out and bin it... eesh... apparently it's too small to pin or work with easily.
