When it comes to the topic of gun control in Canada, "most of" the citizens are strongly in support of it. The stats are very clear.
We've heard all the arguments, but
most Canadians are looking at the photos coming out of the USA right now and don't feel that we want to "be just like them". Much to the contrary, obviously.
I'm not anti gun, but I'm anti "I need an assault rifle or handgun to shoot squirrels in my back yard".
And spare me the "But it's a slippery slope, next they'll take all our guns!" argument since it's entirely conjecture and opinion.
I'm sorry but again I just see more ignorance and emotion in your reply.
Do you know our gun laws?
This isn't America. You aren't allowed to walk around brandishing a firearm, let alone a restricted handgun or rifle.
Do you know the application, or storage process to own a restricted firearm?
Do you know that PAL/RPAL holders have a DAILY background check run on them by the RCMP?
How many gun crimes in Canada are caused by legal gun owners each year?
How many murders have been committed using legally owned "assault rifles" as you all call them, in Canada each year?
Am I upset that I now own 4 prohibited weapons? Yes. Because it's a hobby of mine that I enjoy(ed).
Not an apples to apples comparison, I know, but imagine (without using emotion) that tomorrow they pass a sweeping ban on motorcycles over 250cc's because there are far too many deaths each year.
No vote, no debate, only citing "polls" that people think they are too dangerous, and too loud, and too fast and no one should be allowed to ride them on the highways at double the speed limit.
You now immediately own an item you can't sell, buy, trade, register, or ride.
You are commanded to turn it in so it can be scrapped.
Oh but you like to ride?
Just be happy and say thank you that you can still have a 125 or 250.
How is that fair, just, or reasonable?
