I'm a licenced gun owner, all my paperwork is in order. I dont want or need an "assault style" rifle, but we just greased the slippery slope. Next comes handguns, followed by semi auto, followed by anything with a magazine over 5 rounds.
Do target shooters need more? clay pidgeons? duck hunters? not really but here we go.... and using cabinet rule to push it, this is a pandering knee jerk pussy move, which is typical JT. Maybe he can cry a little while he makes the announcemnets

if billy boy blair gets his way there will be no weapons owned by no Canadians only police and military

Do we really need 600hp cars for the street? I believe Handguns will be next, maybe a Grandfather clause will be put in place for them.

Meanwhile nothing constructive has been done to try and eliminate guns in the hands of criminals.

Gun bans worked somewhat in Japan, the UK, New Zealand and Australia but there’s one very large, elephant-in-the-room, geographical difference between all of those and Canada.

Yes.Our leaky border.Drugs, guns tobacco etc etc.But that is an entirely different and VERY sensitive topic that nobody wants to talk about.

Like they're all islands?

its been typed about a million times, until the US gets a grip on firearms, which will be never, or our border guards start to operate like the Soviet cold war crossings, only criminals will be carrying guns shortly.

Only criminals are carrying guns now. The law abiding folk have them put away unless they are using them for legal activities. I dont know anyone that carries a gun regularly unless it is required by their employer.

:cautious: You guys see the zombi attack squad civil protesters in the USA lately?
NOT helping your cause for gun ownership freedom one little bit.

So with the announcement of the gun ban, was there stiffer penalties announced if you have one or use one to do a criminal act?

Nop, it seems impossible for JT to do anything on he gun file that could possibly have a positive benefit.

-- $252 BILLION deficit. Including the provinces, that puts Canada well over $2 TRILLION in debt. Trudeau is handing money like a drunk to anyone who wants it.

-- He just outlawed 1500 rifles, calling them 'military' look 'assault' rifles. Only 5 of them have ever been used in a crime. The guy who triggered this had one and it was smuggled from USA.

-- He refused to close our borders until his wife got Covid 19. The last place to close was Roxam Rd. Qc, his favorite place to sneak in cheap labour. It's back open now.

According to the RCMP there are only 2 civilian CCPs in Canada.

it's fairly severe already, can't blame JT here.

an uncle of mine who was a licensed restricted owner was a bit of a collector. i say was because about 10 years ago he went to buy a soviet era Makarov iirc. While driving home with his brother in the car, he had it in a case up front in the passenger seat and pulled it out at a red light to admire it. His version says it was in his lap the entire time just flipping it over. Anywho, someone spotted it and called the police and by the time he rolled up at his house he had about 10 squad cars scream down the street to surround him. He was charged with improper transportation and storage of a firearm i believe. Found guilty, banned from owning any firearms for 20+ years? and a nice fine. My dad absorbed his entire collection currently.

also i believe his brother was charged and convicted even though he was only driving, he was licensed and they felt he should have known better.
