Itchy Boots bike got stolen

I'm told the other 99.9% of women on the planet find me irrisistable.

I got Lasik for THIS?

Sorry but I wouldn't want her ride. At the end of a day of riding I want to sit around a fire with a beer and friends. Or maybe I'm traveling with the Squeeze so I'm laying on a bed with a cold beer and a remote.

The last thing I would want is to ride all day knowing there will be hours of work regurgitating my days ride for others.

I personally hate when someone has a camera on rides. Seems douchy enjoy the ride for yourself.

Take all the pics you want as long as I don't have to wait.
(The Squeeze DOES NOT get this rule. Just once I'd like to go on a trip with no camera)

My daughter works in TV and film. After working on a couple of "reality tv" shows I know there's not a lot of reality.
One of my kids did a Survivor type reality show for YTV one summer - it was great fun, but 100% scripted. Each event was rigged to achieve the producer's outcome. If the reality didn't workout, they would up the handicaps and redo the events till they got what they wanted.

Nefew is the camera guy for a few Canadian HGTV Reno and real estate shows - he’s got some great stories!

Would ~$100,000 a month CDN$ earnings change your mind? By some stats that's about what she may be making now.

I mean, it took some time to get there, but the work seems to have paid off.

I wouldn't be surprised that eventually she burns out, but if she's saving properly, this grand adventure will have set her up quite nicely for the rest of her life.

So riding would become a job instead of fun?? (do old grump guys make as much as cute dutch girls?)
I'm happily retired.

We all had jobs at one point. This is currently hers.

And when I'm riding solo, after I get off the bike I really enjoy sitting down with my electronics for a few hours - introvert things.

She has publicly said she's a strong introvert (which is why she does this stuff solo and is apparently quite happy with it), so as one myself, I get it.

Don't get me wrong, I also enjoy sitting around with friends if I'm riding with others, I'm not *such* an introvert that I go hide in my tent or whatever, but I know a few level-11 introverts who would do exactly that, and if that's her, then I can see her spending a few hours after every day, sitting alone, organizing and editing footage and doing social media stuff, and enjoying every second of it.

"editing in a Peruvian jungle far from even power" - Editing in 4K is resource intensive. You'll get about 1 hour of that on a laptop battery before it's done for the night, if that's really what you want to waste the energy on.

A lot of the newer M series Macbooks are getting 4-6+ hours even editing 4K video on battery. And from some cursory searching, it appears she has a pretty versatile mobile power setup that likely charges while she's riding, and uses a Macbook.

I do the same on my current bike, I have an inverter and lots of 12v and USB plugs in my top box and when I'm motocamping I charge all my stuff while underway. At one point on my James Bay trip last summer I had my drone, heated vest battery, tent light/inflator, my CPAP battery, and 2 USB battery banks all charging at once in the top box. If I was travelling and doing like IB, I'd probably amalgamate a lot of that into a good sized Jackery, which can be charged while riding and will provide endless hours of 12v, USB, and 120v power at the ready at the end of the day, no matter where you are. I may yet buy one honestly for exactly that purpose as I do enough motocamping to justify it.

In short, I doubt she's having power issues at all.

Damn. I had no idea. I gotta get on her budget level 🤯

Worst nightmare for any biker, check it out
Quite interesting episode.

Finally got around to watching the video... Just trying to make sense of this mess:

1) First, I'll post a video of how it's possible to start my motorcycle with no key. I have 1+ million subscribers.

2) Next, let me be surprised when one of my 1+ million subscribers recognizes it and tries to steal it.

3) My motorcycle was stolen 1.5 hours ago. The thieves spent 1.5 hours and only got two blocks away.

4) They cut up my wiring harness, but hey guess what? I conveniently had a second wiring harness put on my motorcycle........ as so many people often do.....

5) I am recording everything the whole time.

Am I missing something here or is this whole thing just a load of.... silliness?

She’s pulling in over $50k USD/mo on YouTube. As a nomad, that’s probably tax free.

Add another few bucks from sponsors and for merch — the gal does alright, she can afforded a nice Mac.

I find the drone content entertaining. The motorcycle content leaves me cringing.
A bitsa bike with wiring problems. Really?

The "M2" chip Macbook Air is actually pretty reasonable as far as Macbooks go. It was on sale recently for $1089. M3 chip $1289.

Most people should probably just wait for the M4 Macbook Air though. It's pretty impressive.

I'm still rocking my 2015 Macbook Pro. The thing just keeps going and going and going. I keep thinking about upgrading, but then I realize how little heavy-lifting type work I actually do it anymore besides surfing, so it's tough to justify.

I don't know enough but the bigger picture here to have an opinion one way or the other. Some cursory Googling suggests that the bike was equipped with an emergency fallback harness (already mounted) that could run just the absolute basics in an emergency situation. In this case it doesn't sound as fishy as "I happened to have a whole spare harness with me". There's a lot of debate out there on this episode however.
