Itchy Boots bike got stolen

My daughter works in TV and film. After working on a couple of "reality tv" shows I know there's not a lot of reality.
Close friend worked directly for (top level) one of the building - reno construction company HGTV Canada shows. Oh the stories . Yea very little reality. Yes scripted - directed.

The bike doesn't have an instrument cluster or lighting. Pretty sure that the 14 wires are from the oem harness. If the thieves cut it, where is the other end?

I've been following her from her first season. This is the only person I follow on social media. I think she's legit and mostly down to earth. She travelles to places most of us have never seen. She has the educational background to explain the area, history, geology etc.
I look forward to watching her episodes in the middle of winter. If anything she has me interested in possibly exploring a different riding path for me. I am now looking into ADV riding more....

I don't watch her often either - her obvious physical and riding skills limitations make her videos boring, BUT I watch with great interest episodes where ppl got in adverse situations (which we luck so much in this western society nowadays) and their action-reaction.

As per scripted - I'd suggest not to try so hard to minimize somebody who's ACTUALLY doing adventures in the world, not behind their keyboards :) How you can script some of her spectacular crashes and broken collarbone? Be generous. Cheers

She obviously knows how they Internet works. She is very smart. I just wish a RTW rider knew how to straighten a bent shift lever, handguard or broken mirror. ( oh, it's just loose)

I love the "person alone in the wild / on the road / wherever" shows where they purport to be all alone and such, talking to the camera, yet the camera is moving around and following them, so clearly there's a cameraman as well. It's easy to sometimes forget to look at the bigger picture about how actually real "reality" shows are.

Anyhow, I've never watched itchyboots, but I have a few friends who talk a lot about her videos and adventures and seem to genuinely enjoy them, so I'm not saying that's the situation here, but just saying, not all of these sorts of YouTubers are as legit as she may sometimes seem to be.

A friend of mine had his master bedroom done in one of those makeover shows where two couples redo each others rooms.

The furniture that looked good on screen was just really poorly slapped together plywood with coats of paint on the sides that showed. They had the couple do a little painting of some stuff for the camera, then shooed them away before the actual painters came in and slapped on the minimal amount of paint needed.

Everything fell apart pretty quickly.

I'd be surprised if ItchyBoots was really riding by herself without at least some support structure. She's been in some remote and sometimes sketchy places carrying a lot of gear.

I've only watched a few of her videos, but since I've always assumed that she has support, it doesn't really diminish her content to me. She's out there doing what most of us could only dream about, support or not.

I totally believe that she is on her own. Anyone that has done long solo trips can recognize that. Her editing makes the end result a bit deceiving tho.

you'd be wrong about any local support.
She does have extensive support via her satellite phone for technical motorcycle
All the episodes she edits herself as she travels and does the content.
She's quite protective of her film and editing gear to prevent theft and no more camping for her....she makes lots enough per month to support hotels. $20k US per month.

Often 2-3 long days are spent editing for one 20 minute episode. I particularly liked she is a professional geologist and weaves that into her stories.
I think her biggest draw for me is her enthusiasm to explore, discover and meet new people and places. Being multi-lingual helps. When she panned for gold her enthusiasm finding some was infectious as was her wanting to get away from the mozzies. They are brutal in Alaska.

I am glad she had that extra loom...could have been a long delay to the round the world trip otherwise.
Not sure how this bike would fare in some the African places she's been. Dumping the Honda 300 upside down in an Africa River and getting it started was impressive.
She attracts local help for sure.
Tall blonde Dutch girl on a motorcycle ...... ;)

Her dashboard rig on the new bike is much better for the forward view - her old set up blocked too much forward. 🍿
