Yes generally I can.
Solo Vloggers doing their own editing in the field are not scripted....they have no writers or crew behind them like the Vendee Round the world solo sailors. None are trained actors.
Hi, solo vlogger who does my own editing here. I am absolutely, positively, word for word, 100% scripted.
When it looks like I'm looking into the camera and sharing all kinds of descriptive insight, listing specifications in fast succession, or rhyming off full part numbers as if I'm some kind of genius/rainman/Ryan F9, I'm really not. It's just that I spent $30 on a teleprompter.
My teleprompter lets me stare at the lens, but what I'm really seeing is the reflection of the 1,400 word script I wrote the night before, when my girl passed out after sex, so I, like a ******* nerd, snuck off to my computer to go write in the dark until 2 am.
You keep it true to who and how you are by writing your script exactly how you would naturally say it out loud in conversation. You can even add action into, like if I write a rant about something, I might add "
[throw hands up to show frustration]" to the script, because that's exactly what I would do in real life. Yes, you're reading a script, but if the script really is how you
really are, then no one knows the difference.
Adrian on video is a machine. He knows every torque specification, part number, model year change, dimension, horsepower, torque, tire size, everything. Adrian on video doesn't miss steps, look at notes, drag things out, or waste your time.
But he's not me. Because Adrian in real is just a normal human who likes motorcycles and sometimes puts his boxers on the wrong way. I try to make the most helpful videos I can, but I would never be able to do it as directly, completely, and succinctly, without my teleprompter. My videos are scripted as **** and you wouldn't want to watch them if they weren't lol
