Very cool concept, would be interesting to see if/when it makes it to production

Sorry to say this guys but...

SUBMIT SHEEPLES!!

GO AND BUY ONE NOW!!!!!

THE RETINA DISPLAY ITSELF IS WORTH THE $500+ PRICE TAG!!!

Thanks for the constructive post. For those already owning an iPad2 though (and if we're talking about the sheeples, they do) it's more like $250 by the time you flip your old ipad.

^ $250?? Maybe if you're going from the original iPad to the new one.

iPad 2 will easily fetch $380 on the used market.

If you queue up for it and buy a new one every year then yes.

Although, and I was waiting for some dullard to ask this question, motorcycle companies generally give models longer lives than 1 year. They're also considerably more expensive than ipads. Do I need to explain any more differences between ipads and motorcycles?

When I was riding my 1098 I used to frequent a couple of Ducati forums. When the 1198 came out in 2009 I was amazed by the amount of people who were happy to dump their 1098 and buy a 1198 when they wern't even using 1/3 of the potential of their current bikes. I asked them why and no one could give ma a straight answer. They, in my opinion, were suckers.

And the reverse of your blindingly dull question is;

What year is your motorcycle? It'd better be a 2012. And you'd better have the 2013 version on order. Just as well Apple don't make motorcycles isn't it?

I kid you not, I wanted to pick up my new bike today but it looks like its going to be Saturday. My last new bike was 2 years ago. I got a new phone last weekend, but it was an almost free upgrade since I had it for two years. So for me it looks like a new bike and phone every couple years :-)
It's tough being a sucker! I guess the top suckers are those guys that buy a couple new bikes every year as their A and B bikes for trackdays, or those really unfortunate ones that buy a few new bikes every year and have 30 bikes in their garage.....those fools!! But really, who am I to judge what someone does with their disposable income? Some just buy new bikes every year to have the latest and greatest, god bless em. Did you tell all those Ducati 1198 owners what you thought of them?

Since computing power increases so quickly every year I don't think the tech company has the luxury of sitting around for 2 years. Not to mention computing devices double in performance every two years, which is alot better than motorcycle advancements.......so really the techy guys aren't doing to bad.

^^^^ Stuff like *this* is what defined the old Apple.

Pushing the boundaries, and introducing neat new ideas and products.

While the industry is making a push towards faster, thinner, lighter.....Apple goes the other way and introduces a heavier, and thicker iPad 3.

If you watched Cooks forehead closely, you would have seen tiny beads of sweat on his forehead.

He doesn't even know what to call it! Simply a "new" iPad. Even Apple knows this thing isn't good enough to be truly called Ipad 3, just as it would have been foolish to call the iphone 4S an iphone 5.

AppleTV offered no significant upgrade either, on this release.

This is a company that just re-introduced stagnating products. (technologically speaking)

Was the IPad 2 a bigger advancement over IPad 1 than this New IPad is over Ipad2?

In the end, if they sell millions of these new IPads and make billions it's a success right?

Guys, NEVERMIND THE ground-breaking industry-first screen and processor/graphics cores.... the thing is 0.6MM THICKER THAN BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!

That's like...... ALMOST A MILLIMETER!

 playbook

I still haven't seen why these are useful to me. But who knows...

Closer to half a mm really. :-)

Or is it a really good product?

Is there some way to discern the difference?

Not that it matters as long as they keep bringing in the $$$

Funny, thats my take on McDonalds hugely popular Big Mac.

Is it really a good product? We both know the answer to that one.

But it sure is a money maker for McD's.

The Big Mac argument would apply if the only other food on the planet was worms and dirt. So yeah, I'll take the McDonalds!!!

iPad is the only product in the segment. There literally is no competition. If you want a robust, feature-full tablet with leading edge technology... there's only one way

So IPad is not a good product. Is the Playbook a good product?
