They are open at 8:30am so try calling then. I have the exact number so you could talk to a person there and not a machine but it's at home. Will send it to you either way after work.

p.s. Sent you that reply from them as you requested.

Normally you fax it in 72hours before. And keep your fax reciept. If you have that, they basically need to go stuff themselves if they lost your paperwork which mine they couldn't find right away, thank god I had the reciept.

Yup! I had this happen to me.

US Customs at the Fort St Cargo Facility were telling me I needed to leave my bike there for a few days.

I had the seller fax the title again, along with the fax confirmation from the first time he sent it. US Customs admitted they lost the paperwork and did it right on the spot. Keep your records!

For Lewiston point you just send an email with the info, no fax required. Much easier IMO.

When I called the Huron US border guys to get "confirmation" that they received it, they would not confirm nor deny it. They just said bring the "fax transmission report". When I got there, they didn't start looking at anything until I produced that document.

Anyone cares to post which Bill of Sale template they used? (One for seller and one for yourself)

Found lots on the internet but just curious.

I had a handwritten 'bill of sale' written and signed by the seller.

I understand that you guys had 2 copies, correct?

What for? I crossed at Queenston Lewiston. Brought the bill of sale with me. Of course, you can have two copies, if the seller wants to have one for his records.

It's best to have 2 copies because you are dealing with a bunch of thousands of dollars. Covers both ends just in case. Both signed by both parties.

This thread is about importing the vehicle into Canada. Please don't confuse it with buying something. Customs do not require two copies of bill of sale.

Of course customs do not require 2 copies O_o
When you do the transaction seller and buyer each get a copy in case any conflict comes in the future.
