I'm giving away money

Red heads or ferraris???

There's a Ferrari with comprehension problems that posts on here? :D

I suggest

animal shelters are also a great idea.

Not being hard up, last year I asked Sonny to instead donate money in my name to the Burlington Humane Society (the No-kill one on Griffith that hosts the fall Ruff Ride, not the SPCA). At least I think it was in my name, not that it makes a shred of difference, as long as they got some Pesos for kibble.

Why feel the need to make people jump through proverbial hoops with a great story of being in need before you decide where the money goes?

Type gift+horse+mouth into the Google search box in your browser and see what comes up

I am not in need of that money as some maybe but I am in need of knowledge to make it in life and be happy.
I think a guide or a story of how you made it well in life would benefit many.

Don't you think ?

Hi Sonny,

As I see the back to school ads, a thought entered my mind. At my last church we were in a very low income neighbourhood, complete with a school filled with children that couldn't afford supplies. As a congregation we filled back packs with school supplies, pens etc. and distributed them with the assistance of another agency to needy families.

Not sure exactly where you live but I can almost guarantee that there are children at your local school who have parents unable to purchase school supplies. Ever thought of filling some back packs and dropping them off?

While I appreciate that this is a great jesture of charity and applaud you for your charitable givings. Why feel the need to make people jump through proverbial hoops with a great story of being in need before you decide where the money goes? Seems alittlle distasteful imo - no offence. You should just give it to someone who you can clearly see is in need without asking them to do anything for it - thats true charity. PS: Happy Birthday.

Charities of any sort can be awkward. If you tell too much you are being insensitive. If you tell to little you aren't transparent.

My charity choices tend to be private, between me and the recipient. There is no middleman taking a cut, no overheads, no fundraising expense etc. I don't get a tax kickback but I figure I still get more bang for the buck. Every dollar goes where I want it to end up. Going through a registred charity I would have to give twice as much for the dollar to get through to the recipient.

Slightly tangental but if you buy $50 worth of soup and take it to the food bank they will appreciate it. However if you give them the $50 they can buy in bulk and end up with even more on the shelf. It also lets them select a more balanced inventory than just KD. Also you get a receipt. It's not the reason for giving but if you feel guilty about it you can contribute your tax refund as well.

PS Happy belated and good kharma to the OP.

I'm quite sure Sonny is very happy with his life as he has lived it.But you don't have to have money to give away to be successfull in the game of life.

And good on ya Sonny!

I was out snorkeling at wasaga beach. I use a bodyboard with an anchor I affixed to it. My mask and snorkel wasn't fitting properely so I took it off and held onto to it. The water was really wavy. As I was setting the anchor I must have let go of the mask and snorkle. Usually it floats but because of the waves it sunk. I dove down to look for it with no luck. I went back to shore to see if it would wash ashore, nothing.

You want to give away money, here's the list.

Seriously, just kidding.

It's my birthday tomorrow and I am very lucky to not need or want for anything so I thought as a way to pay back the universe I would give away a minimum of 300 or more to the person with the best story of why they need it or know someone who needs it.I already donate to charity all the time but if you want the money to go to charity that's fine too. Let's hear it.

You do know the difference between "wants" and "needs",right? Seriously, just kidding.

In the opening post the op wanted a story, not a beg fest. The op would reward the best story. Based on the posts, I would take my 300 dollars go out for a really nice dinner and leave a nice tip - gone.

If you want to help someone one on one, go to any women's shelter, pick one, or more of the women that are beaten by some coward, lots of these women will have children with them. The smile you put on their face will live with you for ever.
