Icemageddon 2013

I'm near Yonge and 401. My immediate area has power, but there are large blocks around me without power. All my family in Vaughan and King are out as well.

Better send in the army!

I was deployed for that fiasco. I made a point re; using the proper equipment for the mission... then proved it during the mission. At least it was only military equipment damaged! LOL

My battery back up sump pump saved my basement this morning when the power went out from 5-8am. Best $400 spent in 2012.

Lol I'm glad we didn't have an outage, for a change.. In the process of putting one in, should wrap it up today

Status here at present time is inage.

Power went out this morning, so took the dogs for a hike through the bush at Long Sault (just down the road from Mosport). Tough walking conditions for me, but the forest was spectacular! Everything completely covered with ~1/2" ice, and drooped over. No wind, and so silent. Serene, tranquil... I should have brought my camera.

Anyway, power back on in Bowmanville... guess I can return all that propane and the space-heater I bought this morning (Canadian Tire had power).

No power since 9 pm last night. Trees down everywhere. Can't even get in and out of my area right now. The festive sounds of chainsaws all through the air :D

We have power, but the air is ringing with the sound of 2 stoke chainsaws and the streets are a comical mix of people trying to walk and dodge cars that should have never left a driveway.

My whole street seems like it's a scene out of a apocalyptic movie.

Very heavy fog (seriously? no tail lights on) power out in Waterdown. Dundas and West Hamilton too. Within 2 city blocks of my house, power on. Yippee!

I'm in Vaughan, power never went out here but one of the towers across the road is lights out.

Anyone know whats happening in Thornhill now? I dropped off my buddy last night at their condos near Bayview and John around 2AM and there was no power. I tried calling him now and his cell phone must've been off. Its just him and his retired mom, and I dunno how to get a hold of him. The roads are so icy and our car decided to start to stall.

Hey, those websites suggest that Thornhill isn't affected at all, but they also mention that their online map is not reliable right now. Can anyone definitively confirm how affected Thornhill is?

Power came on at about 4:30 for me, I'm south of Bathurst and Clark. Just got back from driving around, looks like most people have power back in the area.

Took the dogs for a walk, it looks like a bomb went off in the park, hundreds of trees are split and coming down, trees are on cars and houses. What a mess.

A bit of ice in Whitby... never lost power

3 out of 5 buildings across the street have no power, and the street lights are out. But Thornhill is large, the outage areas are gonna be spotty.

Almost went into a downed tree on Dixie. Fortunately there was enough room in the adjacent lane for me to make a speedy lane change and avoid it. Nice pics Splash. This used to be a regular occurrence for me while living in Sudbury and parking my car outside.

Never lost power here, but I just finished breaking up the ice on the sidewalk and driveway so that I can get out of the house. Street in front of the house is OK.
