from what i hear with traffic light synchronization, they think it will annoy motorists enough to take public transit...so again its all just a scam to get more money...i think they make way more from public transit than motorists.

also why is toronto like the only city in the world without synchronized lights? there is no down side to it...its proven traffic flows faster and smoother. So why not do it? again, like everywhere else in the world?
( not syre about the whole world but, QC, USA many states, UK, italy)

Public transit is SUBSIDIZED and so effectively makes no money, but rather costs it. Toronto owns the Green P lots and on-street pay and display spaces, so they make money from motorists.

The Toronto traffic light system is actually several disparate systems because of amalgamation, and because the lights in the core were never consolidated to a single control centre. Proposals have been in place for years, on how to get everything together. The fact is that it costs money. A LOT of money. Previous administrations frittered away taxes, rather than bringing infrastructure up to current standards. Ford is on a cut-back kick. Do you really think that he would want to spend millions on signals?

Yes.

Reduce pollution, closer to meet kyoto, reduce traffic, reduce accidents, increase happiness of your population, increase your popularity.

Really? And if the 'snitch' helps find your, or your buddy's bike that gets stolen?

It's funny but the same people here that call out snitches and complain about people reporting to the police will be crying foul and for witnesses if their property gets damaged, stolen, etc. same goes for people bitching about the cops and then they need them because their stuff is messed with.

HAHAHA No I don't worry about what the police do or don't do. Why would I complain to them about something they didn't do. Portect yourself install camera's etc. I have two out side my house. Helped a neighbor get insurace on his work truck as they were able to get the plate off the car that broke into it.

Definitely not so. The same section of the Criminal Code is used to charge people for using boats and aircraft for dangerous operation and last time that I checked, no one had drawn property lines in the sky or Lake Ontario.

Actually.. :-) People do own property in Lake Ontario..they're called water lots..just sayin'.. :-)

That is true, people do in fact have property lines which include water, but in regards to the original point I can't think of any water lots that extend far enough into the water for you to be dangerously operating a boat purely within it. Maybe a canoe.

really???

ford used to talk about synchro all the time on 640 and how it was not difficult to do, but your point makes sense.
its dated infrastructure so i guess its not as easy as a quick "usb map adjustment" hah

LOL...North American cop cars (NASCAR) can't turn for ****. Just do a sharp right turn and get away! Ninja 250 can out turn any of the 600-1000 CC bikes.

BRB "Fast Pace, not 250 Friendly"

 250 cant out turn a dodge charger let alone a 600

Which shows that Ford seems to have about as much understanding about traffic control as he does about the conflict of interest legislation. You should have been listening to CFRB. They interviewed the guy in charge of the traffic system. Repeatedly ;)

This coming from the biggest hypocrite on the boards that I personally know (Pearlzzzz).

Are you for real?

I commend and agree with ‘theassassin’ for his viewpoints and voicing his opinions, straight to the heart of Ontario’s abstract and unjust traffic violations system. I agree with his take on this subject and empathize for his family’s loss. There is no hypocrisy. I copied the post I referred to for you to read in case you missed it by being so pompous. I hope you understand what he is trying to convey.

"My brother in law was killed by a left turning mini van when he was doing 60kms on his 650 Vstar 2 years ago. In the end, the driver's punishment amounted to a $110 fine and 2 points. I told my sister from the beginning to not look for justice from the "legal system" as it is not a "justice system". We can't expect the laws to be perfect and punish people perfectly, but I agree with what you're saying. In "Onterrible", traffic laws don't make a lot of sense. I don't think I've seen 4 sportbikes wheelieing at the same time in the last 12 years, there just aren't this many skilled guys together on the same ride anymore. If they got towed, suspended and arrested for speeding, that's ridiculous, escpecially when no one was injured and a public witness was involved. I believe that the threshold for these kinds of charges is way too low, video evidence from a police cruiser must be made to be mandatory for any such charges. I've been threatened way too many times by police who I've told off that they would charge me with threats etc. but they can't because the threshold is too high. Giving the police this kind of power is wrong. This kind of thing is what courts are for. It reminds me of "judge dread" where arrest, trial and sentencing are all done at the same time by a policeman. Sadly, this is where Onterrible is heading."

Wait, there was an increased police presence on the 400 on a long weekend? That's crazy talk! Wrong place and time to pull stuff like that. I'd be a hypocrite to slam them for doing what they did, but you need to be a bit choosier as the the place and time. 4:05 PM = lots of witnesses.
4:05 AM not on a long weekend would have been much different outcome.

can't fix stupid.

I commend and agree with you for agreeing with me! Too many people in this Province just accept the bull**** draconian laws that politicians andpublic figures like McGuinty and Fantino impose that are not fitting and are a violation of our right to "due process".

I compleatly agree with you "theassasin" I got pulled over the other day in a parking lot by a officer who never even turned his lights on or made it known he was coming after me, all he did was pinch me into a curb, So I went around him. Slowly road past him an when he caught up to me (about 20 feet away) told me to pull over and accused me of having no licence for the bike. Said I was being cocky and rude when I said "Ive been licenced for about 7 years and my full M for about 6. And this bike is fully insured" The proceeded to tell me how, "theres 0 tolerance for you guys on the sport bikes now, Expect to be pulled over every time you see a cop in this area"..... Um excuse me? Noooo, thats not right.

I cant tell you the amount of times back in the day of my lowrider truck being on the road, That a cop would pull me over, give me some ******** excuse of how I had something illgeal on my vehicle then came back and gave me a stack of tickets for nothing related to the initial complaint.

People who say that the police/legal system in this province arnt the biggest gang on the planet are the ones who forgot what it was like to be young, never had an interest in automotive beyond what came from the factory or generally had a sense of style with there automotive choices. Listen, People who drive standard transmission cars, mark my words. Its a short matter of time untill it becomes illegal to own a standard transmission car. "it takes your hands off the wheel and distracts you" will be the claim.....

Open your eyes people, You dont live in a free society. You live in a society of sheep of people who are too afraid to stand up for whats right and just. you live in a society where the government decides who what when where why and how. Do they ask us before passing laws? nope, they just do it. tell me how that means were in a democracy?? Do we really have a say in what happens in our province/country? no. no you dont. no I dont. No we dont.

there trying to ban RHD cars... why? give me one good reason. and before you give me some ******** about blind spots on left turns ext ext, Just an FYI. I used to drive a rhd car. My friends have a series of RHD vehicles. and Ive seen/spoken to other enthusiasts who have RHD cars.... And NONE of them have ever had a problem turning left at an intersection, Infact they practice something no one seams to anymore. CAUTION.

I cant believe with the way the government decides and controls everything we do as a population, That supersports are even alowed to be sold in ontario/canada for that matter. I love my SS, and my cruiser alike. But it blows my mind that my SS is legal.

Sorry for the really long rant Im just tired of the lay down and take it additude of the population of this province.

We live in a free society. That doesn't imply that you're free to do whatever you feel like, regardless of how it might effect others. That isn't freedom; it's anachy.

Sorry for the really long rant Im just tired of the lay down and take it additude of the population of this province.

I agree with you that we are targeted and have been targeted for driving the vehicles we do however It sounds like you and me have complete opposite realization of why. Lets' start off with some facts so you know where I am coming from. I'm 30 years old got into driving imports right at it's peak and work in both the motorcycle industry and modified imports/truck world.

The reason modified vehicles get targeted is simple. There has always been the cheap ****s who rice out a car by Joe Schmoes backyard garage and the **** is ready to fall apart all across the road. It's an easy target for LEO in traffic divisions to harass modified vehicles and I cant blame them one bit. The amount of people I have dealt with who have major safety issues with their vehicles and would rather throw an fart can exhaust on or a set of wheels and tires then purchase a new set of ball joints or replace their worn brakes is appalling. The last major meet i went to some guy in his hella flush EG Civic couldn't even pull into the parking lot without his upper ball joint failing. Our previous generations did it to us and now we are paying the consequences. If you don't like it then become a cop or get involved and educate.

The RHD comment is an easy one and it comes down to this: Is turning left in a LHD vehicle SAFER then turning left in a RHD vehicle? Plain and simple the answer is: The LHD vehicle is safer. Now before everyone who owns a RHD vehicle gets their panties in a bunch notice how I didn't say "you cannot make a safe left hand turn in a RHD vehicle"? Simply put you can but it's just easier to suggest banning something rather then educating the masses or training RHD drivers to be more patient not to mention the moron behind you honking his horn cause your slowing his day down by 30 seconds.

As for SS it's a similar explanation as the modified vehicle one. One bad apple ruins it for the whole damn bunch and we get stereotyped and targeted. With things like this thread being brought to the attention of the masses through media looking for a juicy story one would think we are all bad ***** and well I see it everyday i'm on the road. I am far more likely to see a SS with a flip plate splitting traffic at a high rate of speed and wheeling from light to light then I am a cruiser.

Driving/riding is a privilege and a lot of people forget that.
