Have you ever thought about racing?

You assume I haven't raced. You assume wrong. I won't go into it, or you'll accuse me of bragging or something. Carry on...

so you want to race, so you bought an illegal bike. ok

Yep. I won't be going for points, as I don't care about running the series - way too busy for that anyways.

Any other stupid assumptions you want me to dispel?

so why not just run the litre bikes in the 600cc classes then? i only said that because you mentioned you weren't racing because your bike was eligible for only one class. apparently this bike is illegal anyway.

Try to stretch your intellect to the idea that I want to just enter a race for fun and do not care about the results except as they relate to my personal satisfaction.

People have been entering bikes (classed by engine size, generally) which are not strictly class legal as wildcard/non-series entries for years, I had an organizer, who shall remain nameless, practically beg me this fall to bring my "illegal" bike out just to fill out the class. He also told me that there was no other class for my 1000, which may not have been the case... :/

Anyway... what do you care?

I am, hence why I asked why you didn't just run your litre bike in whatever classes you felt like.

Do you plan on finishing the race? And if so, will you protest yourself? Or will you expet other riders to pony up the protest fee? Will you inform everyone that your bike is illegal?

Seriously?

Just go ride the stupid bike.

Don't assume where I'd enter the bike. Or how. That'll work out better for both of us.

out of curiosity what is actually illegal about the bike?

TAFB has nothing to do with the site. FYI.

Nice. Hopefully I can pick up my speed next year.

Remember that you need to lock-wire your bike pretty significantly for racing series. Anything with fluid behind it needs a drilled bolt and lockwire, RACE and CSBK require wired caliper bolts and RACE wants the headstock nut as well (unless that's been reversed). The pinch bolts need to be wired as well, and I've heard that they want a clipped rear axle in some series, which means replacing or drilling it for several models, although every GSX-R I've owned had a pre-drilled axle and castle nut.

It's a bit of a pain in the #$% but I lockwire mine to standard just for the added safety.

As for speed, seat time and a methodical approach to better lap times are required.

How hard is it to find 16.5" slicks in/around gta?

Darn near impossible because no one uses them. Everyone around here uses 17" tires.

figured as much, seem to still be freely available in the states but shipping, import duties, hst etc would make it a pain.

16.5" wheels are why the Desmosedici owners have practically all put BST carbon wheels on their bikes. Or so I've been told / observed.
