Have you ever thought about racing?

Remember that you need to lock-wire your bike pretty significantly for racing series. Anything with fluid behind it needs a drilled bolt and lockwire, RACE and CSBK require wired caliper bolts and RACE wants the headstock nut as well (unless that's been reversed). The pinch bolts need to be wired as well, and I've heard that they want a clipped rear axle in some series, which means replacing or drilling it for several models, although every GSX-R I've owned had a pre-drilled axle and castle nut.

It's a bit of a pain in the #$% but I lockwire mine to standard just for the added safety.

As for speed, seat time and a methodical approach to better lap times are required.

I figured as much with the wiring. I'll get the new bf to do it. :D Then I can learn without spending a retarded amount.

The wiring is fairly easy, its the drilling that is a pain in the ass.

How much do the predrilled bolt kits usually go for?

The only pre drilled bolts I've seen were ti calipers bolts. They're expensive!

One piece of advice, for the bigger bolts use a 3/32" bit instead of 1/16".

Probolts has some pre-drilled ones. But then you need to get the torques right... it's up to you in general, just don't slip on a bolt and scar up / drill the cases. Don't ask how I know about this.

BTW those being critical on my choice of 600, I am leaving this sticker on the bike (yes, for pose value!):

That should clear up any misconceptions about it.

Hey thinks it's illegal because it's an ex pro bike.

Shaman,

There's no dyno at the regional level, and it can easily be tuned back with fuel.

And all this time I was hoping I was cheating.

When you go to drill your bolts (if you do), mark them where you want the hole while they're torqued then remove them to drill in a drill press, makes life easier.

Might be a stupid question, but I've been meaning to ask it for some time...
What's the idea behind safety wiring?

Extra safety to keep specific nuts and bolts from coming loose.

Nice. Hopefully I can pick up my speed next year.

The only classes you'd want to run in would be formula femme and rookie. You'd have a lot of fun in the femme class though and if your pre-register its not even that expensive to run 2 classes. Remind me to make fun of him if he has to lock wire your bike. Such a pain in the *** lol.

The bike's got a map in it for pump gas (EMPro is good that way), already started a dialogue with another racer/organizer but thanks for the confirmation. I'm going to call up Chris @ Shannonville and wag jaws about it maybe tomorrow.

Just ride it, run mr12 if you want, nobody will care. Hell im pretty sure there was a novice (RACE) rider running it because he had to on his built 600.
Your CSBK sticker is right where your new sticker for YOUR tech info goes, you may not be able to pose as hard as you want to, they may not care or get a new fender to keep the nostalgia.
