Shouldn't that read production and sale of
You can't make money during a development stage. Plan is flawed.
They might be talking about the electric bicycles, which is my guess they are hoping to get into fleet type sales with cities. Possibly leveraging the buisness built off police bikes. Seems to be a hot right now for short term use/rental around cities, eBikes etc.

It was WW2 that kept Harley afloat with a good military unit and the returning soldiers needing to fit into society. That's how bike clubs began. They rode Harley's in Europe and wanted the same back home.

Yes and the yanks likely had more chance to ride those then the Brit bikes
the Canadian's are a different history. we were in that one before them ya know
This was like when GM needed some subcompact models to make some quick profit on a segment of the market they didn't really have a place in at the time and stuck Chevy bowties on a handful of Daewoo cars and sold them.
Curious how much those sold for compared to the Stacyc originals?

I think they were out engineered. It's one thing to sell bikes, it's another to have the engineering capacity to design for dependable use and volume production.
You should probably lookup how many other cars still use belts vs chains. TONS of cars still use belts.
As for plastic bits, we had a Chevy (Daewoo) Aveo for a few years. Ask me all about the plastic thermostat housing and when it decided to fail one day.

Personally I don't like timing belts. They are certainly quieter than gears and chains, but not nearly as long lived or dependable. Chains stretch and make the engine run rough before catastrophic failure -- belts just blow off and bang - engine failure.
They are obsolete in motorcycles. Honda GL bikes had 160,000 service intervals so they were OK, but eventually that was considered a nuisance on a motor that could go 400,000km, so Honda went to chains. Belts are still used on a Euro brand but due to the use of tiny pulley wheels, the belts need changing every couple of years or <40Km to the tune of $500.

Chains just change your failure mode. Instead of the belt popping, the tensioner gives up and you jump time and boom. People think they can be lazy because it's a chain and it very very rarely needs any attention. Some extra special car engines run a belt at the front and a chain at the back to make sure servicing is as expensive and annoying as possible.
