GoPro's new Hero3 is lighter, faster, higher res and has WiFi, comes in three flavors

It was the one I linked. I see they no longer offer DHL, and standard shipping is now Korea post and they charge you $20 extra for EMS/FedEx?

Jamie, first, thanks to you and Sushii for pointing to these monitors. I have read a lot on them on overclockers, RFD and 120Hz forums. Some shippers still ship DHL (at least the three bigger ones on ebay), but I'm not sure if they'll ship them as a 'sample', most likely not. What I know is if something gets shipped FedEx EXPRESS (not Ground) or UPS EXPRESS, the duty fees are usually included in the shipping cost. All bigger sellers on ebay ship for free via FedEx Express, so hopefully it's a good sign, I'll read up on this more. (Still debating if I want to go for a 'perfect' 0-dead-pixel screen or gamble $50 and get one with maybe 1-5 dead pixels). Btw, all these monitors are made in Korea anyway, being LG-based.

Opt for the regular ones, a few horror stories where they just ship pixel perfect as regulars and hope that its perfect or that the buyer wont notice.

Seriously though, for you guys who dont have SSD's go on youtube and lookup 4k videos

And watch how hard your computer works for you

What does having a SSD have anything to do with watching 4k videos on Youtube? It's your processor and internet speed (if you don't want to wait forever) that counts.

Also, please link a 4k video... I can't find any on YouTube.

+1, your standard mechanical hard drive far exceeds the speed of a standard home internet speed.

For videos, just search 4k Video on youtube... plenty

Select Original instead of 1080p

Edit: Looks like youtube stopped support for 4k videos.. all videos are 2048x1536...

That's why I was asking for a 4k youtube video.... But if you download the file off youtube it's 4k...

TimeScapes 4K, 514MB
Video: 4096x2304x12. 23.978fps, AVC

Vimeo has a bunch of 4K
If it does, why didn't you post an example?

For all GoPro users, I just ordered my GoPro3 (never had one before) and was wondering, what video editing software do you guys use that works with gopro ? (for slow-mo, saturation, cutting etc.)

thanks

I use Adobe Primere, easy to get. Does the frame blend thing for slo-mo, super easy to trim up video clips (razor tool) and my favourite feature is editing the audio for the video in Adobe Audition in one click (normalize, dehiss, etc.).

My super noob video editing (not shot on gopro obviously, dub in original audio, picture in picture with sync, etc.):

I use premiere as well. My brother uses After Effects which I have yet to play with. The twixtor plugin (3rd party plugin) for premiere is really good for super slow-mo interpolation, especially if the video is shot at high frame rate (should work well with the hero 3). I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered.

I've used trakAxPC, they have a 30-day free trial and the program is priced well at $40.

I have the original GoPro and this is first video I made with music and such. (complete noob)

Premiere is a studio grade application so it can do all of those things but is generally more complicated to use than consumer oriented programs. That said, there are lots of plugins for Premiere and tons of online resources to help make things simpler.

I see they improved a little from the original idea

So has anyone seen any good boxing day/week deals on the GoPro 3 Black? I'm tempted to pick one up at some point if the price is right.

Same please post any store that has them on sale. I'll prolly get the silver since it's a lot cheaper.

Isn't the silver just a rebadged 2 with wifi built in? The way I see it, if you figure you might use the remote, the black is only around $20 more than a silver + buying the remote separately.

With that said, I almost bought the 2, however in thinking about it, I might want to connect the LCD for framing or get an extended batt pack down the road, which would mean I couldn't use the wifi backback on the 2 (and the remote) at the same time. Since wifi is built in the 3s, connecting either the LCD or extended batt pack and using the remote is not an issue.

Anyhow just my 2 cents. Also my dad picked up a 2 back when they first were deeply discounted (during the launch/pre-order of the 3), so I plan on borrowing it a few times before dropping money on a 3 myself, unless I catch a big sale.

Also for bike mounting, just a fyi that RAM makes a GoPRO to RAM conversion mount, vs having to use the sticky pads which come with the GoPro itself (and in my case, I already have a RAM ball/mount on both the brake lever assembly and the fork stem for a GPS and other things):
