Most of you are forgetting that Jian is INNOCENT until proven guilty. But, by the looks of it, you have all concluded that he's guilty simply b/c of some allegations that you heard/read in the news. All of you don't know him, but are acting as though you do. Shame on you!

Jian's an incredible talent and a respected artist. Sure, his sexual behaviour, if proved true, may seem eccentric. But, most great artist are eccentric. Instead of vilifying him, people should embrace him for his differences.

As for the allegations, these women are all crying "wolf". They all wanted something from Jian. And, as most women do, they use sex to get ahead. That should be the topic of discussion, as opposed to how men mistreat women. Women manipulate men with sex. You don't hear that about men, b/c men don't do that.

Just recall the woman who says that she gave Jian fellatio just to get out of the room. Yeah, right. She gave Jian a blow job so that she could manipulate Jian into getting her a job--and she did!

Also, it's funny how when a progressive, leftist guy (aka Jian) needs some support, all the leftist stab him in the back. Where's Schneller--gtam's champion of leftist/socialist ideals. Schneller, why aren't you defending Jian?
 
Radio pays peanuts in Canada, he may have been making $150 K but the CBC was paying Don over a mil so who knows? especially when they say that Mansbridge is only paid $85k.

Technically this is probably true, in fact I'm pretty sure it is. In reality tho he will have to prove his innocence. This not insignificant detail bothers some people. And Schneller? He appears to be keeping a very low profile after making some grand gestures about building a DIH work bench. Puzzling to say the least.

This isn't a court of law, it is public opinion. how ever 3 women have come forward to the police and have pressed charges so he will also have his days in a court of law. Jian has how ever, fled the country.

As for allowing him to beat women because he's an artist... The Fords would like to have some of what you're smoking.

Those 3 women should have come forward a lot sooner then... Which leaves us with 2 possibilities..

1) They are glory-hounds still looking for their 15min
2) They let a dangerous offender hurt many other Canadians through their inaction/lack of civic responsibility

You have it backwards, MOST people on GTAM have (predictably) judged the women guilty of fraud and decided Jian must be innocent. In fact, you did just that!

So much for proof and the court of law.

There's no question that he likes to play rough, and clearly he's played the field since forever. Of course some, maybe most, of his relations were consensual. That doesn't mean they all were (though that is possible too). Some women may have taken advantage of him to advance their careers, not all. Some may be madly obsessed with him and seeking revenge, not all. Some may have been assaulted and raped, not all.

As far as "leftists" standing up for "leftists", that's a figment of your clannish imagination. You obviously refuse to believe that most people stand up for what they believe is right, not for pre-determined clique regardless of right and wrong! That question reveals more about your own biased defense of Jian than anything else.

If they did come forward at the time, nothing good would have come of it. These cases almost always end up with no conviction, even though the vast majority are legitimate (in fact, most accusations are legitimate for that very reason - false accusations are almost certain to achieve nothing). The victims would be seen as troublemakers in their industry, have their character questioned by acquaintances, and be mocked by the general public (as you can read in this very thread).

Why do you think they are all coming out of the woodwork at the same time? There is strength in numbers, and not being the solitary victim makes it less likely they will be judged harshly by the rest of the world. They have nothing to gain by going public, yet they still risk being derided and belittled by the most cynical out there (meaning here).

Assault and rape happens a lot more than some people seem willing to accept, and many victims have found the best way to deal with it is to escape and remain silent. Of course all the super-tough and righteous members of this excellent forum would NEVER respond that way IF they in that situation (which they've never been in, of course). But that won't stop them from judging and belittling others who have.
 
Please don't belittle me for belittling others. Another thing coming to mind: should the CBC really be reporting on this news story? Should CBC talking heads be opinionating on this matter?

Strong rumours have it that Jian is now in Los Angeles. Probably tried crashing at Norm McDonald's place but that door is now shut. Ghomeshi is losing allies quickly.

Their credibility would have been a lot higher had they done it immediately after the fact as opposed to when there's a media shitstorm, years later

maybe they weren't ready to relive the abuse and until now had managed to push it down, with it coming to light old wounds are reopened and made fresh. This can give them closure.

People can always find something convenient to say. Everything can be massaged after the fact. No wonder people are spectacle. I say total BS. If you're on solid footing and somebody assaults you, you ask yourself did that cross the line? If yes, you raise a stink one way or the other. That the odd person might not is understandable but 9? Or whatever the number is now. Everybody seems to have an excuse that absolves themselves of responsibility. That doesn't make what JG did (if true) ok but jeeeez........
