I lived in University City, about 10 kms south of Ferguson when I was 6-7. Being an Asian kid wasn't always the easiest thing living there. Although I had both white and black friends and experienced racism for the first time, most of the racist attacks (verbal and physical) were from the black kids. I guess it was easier for them to pick on a group that was smaller and weaker than themselves.

So cops have a financial benefit if the people riot?
They're paid overtime if they are needed. Would you work for free??
What I'm saying is that it is in their best interest financially if the people riot.

I'm not sure on that - the state is asking for assistance from the federal government to be able to pay the officers.
+ I wouldn't want to be an officer down there right now, no matter what the pay

If I were a Ferguson MO cop.. First of all, I wouldn't wanna be exposed to the safety risk of violent howling mobs protesting the death of a fellow career criminal, period... If I had to be, they better pay me overtime for that. Most of those violent protesters don't care about the tax dollar cost because they don't pay taxes anyway.

The Soldier signed up for WAR, you shoot at ppl they shoot back.
What the Politicians are trying to prevent is continued protests across the country that is now impacting business. At any point these protests can take a turn and go a whole new negative direction e.g another shooting
I'd love to be away from my family in a deteriorating and violent situation, completely outnumbered with a big target on my back in the interest of making a buck. Wouldn't you?

All that military gear and military vehicles you see the police have, they HAVE to use them at least one in a year maybe 2 times in order to KEEP the equipment and to continue to get funding.
They damn well knew announcing the verdict that late would cause rioting.
As a US General stated, we attack the enemy under the cover of darkness in the battlefield because they can't see us easily.
kinda like starting a war for profit...let riots happen for the same reason...next year we need a BIGGER budget to buy RIOT gear and equip the TROOPS...can't say that wont happen...so more money handed out.
It's all a business, sounds cynical but think about it.
