I've seen all the Jerez & Bahrain winter testing, and have followed the new regulations quite closely.I see some of you thought it was exciting race? What did you think was exciting in particular?
The whole race was exciting for me: At the beginning they had to do extra formation laps because the two Marussia's engines crapped out.
Hamilton who had pole position had to retire within the 3rd lap. Sebastian Vettel was passed by Marrussia & Caterham, and ended up retiring within lap 4. We're talking about a four time back2back world champion retiring so early; as well as the favourite (Hamilton) to win the race from Pole position.
The Red Bull barely had any mileage w.r.t. winter testing, and Ricciardo's P2 finish was unbelievable. Absolutely no bookie would've predicted a Rosberg, Ricciardo & Magnusson podium.
The Kobiashi Caterham crash on the first corner of the first lap, that took out Williams' Massa. If Bottas hadn't lost that wheel and had to force an early tire change/pit-stop. Bottas would've been fighting for a podium. Williams was very strong, but just ended up really unlucky.
Ferraris also had electrical problems, which meant they couldn't use full power. But they managed really really well.
Lets not forget Force India's "Hulkenburg", he was touted to get a Lotus drive this year. But due to money issues, had to decide between Sauber and Force India. And what a decision he made... the hulk was super competitive this weekend.
Huge round of support for the new kids entering F1: Magnusson & Kvyat.

Formula 1 is about being at the cutting edge. The V8 from last year was already in its fourth year of evolution and if you look at road going cars we're trying to build better hybrid cars. The #1 problem are the batteries and reliability, what better platform to research & develop them, than in Formula 1? Where millions if not billions of dollars are spent?
You really have to watch some of the development chatter to fully appreciate how these new "Power Units" work. I agree the sound isn't as meaty as a V12, V10 or V8, but it's not terrible sound either. Have you heard the sound of the new hybrid-hypercars: La Ferrari, McLare P1, Porsche 918 Spyder?
These new V6 cars maybe slower, but they're definitely not "easier" to drive. This is a new era of F1, it'll take them some time... but i expect some really good races ahead.

If they just continued with last year's V8, Red Bull would be serially winning every race. I personally don't want to see that again, last year was just terrible for F1. Every race, Vettel wins.
This type of exciting reliability issue racing will be short-lived, the teams especially the top tiers ones will sort it out with the next few races. Red Bull's Christian Horner went on the record saying they'll become competitive on the European leg of the F1 calendar.
If you find F1 boring this year, did you really like F1 in 2013?
