It's comin 'homeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

I'll be at the Canada vs Arg game in Atlanta next Thursday. Don't expect us to do well, but after the friendly against France, I remain optimistic. As for the Euro, should be a fun tournament and a much needed distraction from all this damn doom and gloom.
Go England if not someone new!!!

Was very disappointed to see Iké Ugbo off the roster for the Copa, and was all set to grab pitchforks and light torches in a mob against Marsch, but turns out Ugbo withdrew on his own. Watched him play a lot for Wednesday last year, and he was a top three player for a side that should have been top third of the Championship were it not for a catastrophic managerial appointment to start the year.

In Europe, currently watching the Dutch be very 23/24 Liverpool against a Lewa-free Poland right now, soundly out playing the opposition but giving up a set play goal from nowhere and struggling to beat a hot keeper.

Italy looking slightly better than in the lead up, despite a dodgy start against Albania, but can't be expected to go far. England has all the talent, but a thoroughly mediocre manager, Germany looking dangerous, Spain destroyed an aging Croatia, and obviously France. It's shaping up to be a fantastic tournament.

Except the inevitability of English traveling fans being awful with disgusting 'banter' songs, excessive drinking, and leaving a trail of garbage and destruction wherever they go. Worst in the world...

Much better was this bit of devastating violence from the Albanian fans inflicted against Italy:

I’d love to see a too notch international game , I hope I can afford tickets when they get to Toronto.

Mediocre performance from the English squad and I'm tired of seeing Kane just falling over every time he touches the damn ball. Expected much more of a flow from them but that's my fault. Southgate gonna southgate. Hopefully some leader emerges and takes control on the pitch.

They’re a solid side. Wanna see some Lewandoski!

They did play well. Probably one of their better games in recent years.

Lewy should be back in for next game.

Serbia deserved a draw there, limeys lucky to escape with all three points. England are such a mystery. Best player in the English league, best player in the Spanish league, one of the best players in the German league, so much other talent, but they still seem so disjointed and without an identity. They need a proper ball-moving centre-back, a better left-back, a solid defensive mid, and harder working forwards more willing to press. I think they have too many players used to being king of their own kingdoms, and so while they don't explicitly let their egos get in the way, they do struggle to collectively put in the hard graft that turns the ball over with the opposition out of position and allows for fast breaks. I'm absolutely not sold on Southgate, both as a man-manager and a tactician. I don't think he's done enough to put a lid on the egos and enforce a collective effort.

Plus he keeps selecting Pickford, and I can't stand that greasy c**t. Looks like the sort who would sell you some dodgy coke round the back of a pub.

I find Kane overrated. Does well at club level. I don’t usually watch England play despite being English as I just can’t deal with the “it’s coming home” mentality of what is usually a sub par “team” of individual talents that don’t really gel.

I will either watch France play or the mixed martial arts team of the Netherlands.

Agree with every point above.

Southgate is done after this tournament regardless of the outcome, imo.

Apparently Pickford is a bit of a d1ckhead too.

Aren't you Liverpudlian anyway? Scouse not English, etc.? Or were you born too far away from the one o'clock gun and are a wool (I'm still not clear on exactly the definition of Scouse, but it seems an awfully narrow one)?

More Liverpool players on the Dutch side than any other, so aside from Italy, I'm with them for now...

As for Kane, he's a classic old-school striker, very good at finding space and finishing. But he'll never be a modern forward as the current fashion stands, able to press and work without the ball to regain possession. It works to get him goals in Munich (and worked in Tottenham) because the teams are built around him, but I actually think it makes the teams easier to beat. I am surprised that Southgate can't find a way to get him the ball more often, but then again, I'm not.

Kane also is sneaky dirty, and has a move where he backs into defenders with his butt while they're mid-leap to head the ball that has injured a few players as they come down on a shoulder, and he'll then go down in a heap himself to try and draw the foul. Being Kane, and an 'honourable' Englishman, he got the call more often than not in the Premier League. I didn't get DAZN this year, so didn't see if he pulled the same garbage in Munich.

Apparently Pickford is a bit of a d1ckhead too.

Aside from playing for the bitters, he's also dirty. I'll never forgive his rugby tackle on Van Dijk that killed that season for both Van Dijk and Liverpool, even if the refs went temporarily blind...

Belgium vs Slovakia has started really well!

Belgium better than England at underperforming in major tournaments despite massive talent. Similar issues, I think. Unbalanced squads, mediocre coaching, unable to get the best out of players who dominate in their leagues. I'll be curious how Martinez does with Portugal, too...

Pick of the games tomorrow seems to be Portugal vs Czech Republic. Ronaldo may play but might need a nap partway through the second half as he’s so old.
