Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Mine works on a magnet system, built into the frame. Not sure how the replacement glass, with blinds inside would operate?
The one I have has blind control slider along edge of igu. I have never removed it but I would be surprised if it wasn't self-contained.

Well this is interesting. I recall a while back I was casually looking at CoM rules and garden suites were specifically not allowed in our back yard.

Apparently now they are...would be a nice side project for the MIL as I do have space available, and once the kids get older there will be even more space considering the playground and trampoline will disappear...

I see this becoming more and more of a viable option as cost of living keeps growing, and parents / children of our generation will need somewhere to live where they can afford it.

They even have pre-approved plans!

They might suit your M-I-L as I assume she would still have access to the main abode for storage and chilling out. Renters that would tolerate the restricted space long term would concern me. Add the LTB and life gets ugly. Does a granny flat escape the LTB wrath and sloth if rented out down the road?

Family flat, no problem for when the firstborn needs a start on life. Possible WFH peace and separation option also.

Plumbing and drain hook ups down 5 feet won't be easy. Line to gas furnace or big panel upgrade for electric heat /heat pump.

Brick veneer avoids the trailer park look

I'd look at point of use hot water and a furnace alternate to eliminate the utility room and increase usable or storage space.

Here is latest revision of pool plumbing. When I got the house it was 1.5" full of elbows, street elbows, offsets, u-turns and every other bad idea including no check valve between chlorinator and heater. Much better now. Also four shut off valves now to control/direct flow.

Need some ideas.

I need to repaint some windows frame/casings. Damage from dog etc.
Whats the best approach?

Rough sand paper then finish it with a fine grit and repaint?
Or should I use some sort of paint remover and repaint?

Light sanding and a light fill (if required) then an application of trim paint.

How perfect do you want? I would probably sand (with da hooked to vaccuum) and repaint. Good enough. You will still see some marks unless you sand all the way down or fill the chips. It's a house that you live in with dogs and kids not an art gallery. I'd be ok with the low effort approach and fresh paint.

@GreyGhost as best as I can get it but I don't expect it to look like new or museum quality.
At the same time I know it will only be a temporary solution as in that it will happen again. This windows is only about 1.5 feet off the ground and she loves to look out the window.

I was thinking of sanding as much as I can and refill with wood filler if/where needed.
There is another spot in the house with dive divots from the hand crank.

Yesterday was a good day (although hot as $hit)....

Finished the exterior insulation outright(!), ran final cables for internet connections, installed the last of the flashing, and then put away the bender which wife was super happy about.

After that, I used my new handy dandy shelves and started to organize shed #1.

Overall good day.

EDIT: Photos!

And to top it off…found some FUNCTIONAL 12v battery tools from Makita. No clue where they’re from or what I’ll use them for…

The 14.4V Milwaukee wouldn’t charge or work so that’s on the street.

Clear 3M vinyl is your friend after you get the paint sorted. Get a small roll off Amazon and put it over the paint wherever Fido tends to park her paws. Keeps things looking fresh and is easy to replace if you get lazy with the pooch's pedicures.

Great idea.
Looks like they have many options available.

Lots of these transparent pet-protector style things on Amazon, but I'd think about heading down to the big box hardware store and looking at the plastic door/window/trim section to see if anything in white would work so you can skip the painting entirely.

Or be a baller and install a slab. I suspect places that sell counter tops could have a lot of scrap that would make nice sill covers. It may interfere with his crank though. I grabbed a couple installation cranks so I can leave them on with my stupid california shutters but I'm not sure you can use that style crank with the fancier folding cranks.

Skipping the painting probably wont fly with the designer.

I will try to the sanding/painting first then some protective film. Either the clear 3M or the one @Ash mentioned .

Get white protective film and no painting needed....

Most likely wont work with the crank but a great idea.
