Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I'm around most evenings so if you're ever in the area just shoot me a message and pop on by. I need to give you back your tools anyway.

Which one is that? I have a NEST here, but it's a powered one...not battery.

This is potentially what I'm going to be able to do. Power from garage outlet to transformer, then a line to both a new chime and new doorbell...

Eufy. No subscription required! Integrates with a hub. Can add multiple (wireless) cameras.

Help me understand what to use for roofing nails on a kids playhouse. First time doing a shingled roof and it's on the kiddos playhouse that I plan on using 1/2 plywood sheathing (would 3/8" suffice?) under shingles and tar paper/ice guard (paper and ice guard needed for a playhouse?).
Shortest roofing nails for the shingles I see are 1.25" so those would poke through the plywood on the inside by quite a bit would they not? Be a while before the hands reach them but is there a better way?

Look under any roof from the inside and it’s peppered with nails poking through.

In theory it should be only along the structural supports so they penetrate the wood…but most roofing contractors go nuts with it and the underbody of your roof plywood is full of nails poking through.

Short nails are a pain to drive use longer or your hands will pay the price. You could put a inner liner on the underside of the rafters.

Shingle nails rarely hit structural wood. Sheathing nails should not be visible from the bottom(but often are).

I wouldnt use glorified tacks to hold the shingles down. I don't trust them to hold. Depending on framing, I may staple fabric on the bottom of the rafters. Give them stars or pigs to look up at instead of framing and that keeps them from the nails. Or t&g pine if you want fancier. Vent the roof if you are closing it in.

So I bought a Toto S550E bidet on Prime Day for a good price. I'm like 85% positive it will not fit on my current toilet, which is ok because I wanted a new toilet anyways. This thing basically needs to go on a Toto toilet.

Anyone have a Toto toilet and have any good recommendations? They have like 20 different toilets and I have no idea what the difference is even though half of them look the same...

I didn't know they had to be on Toto toilets. I thought matching up round or elongated was good enough.

I have used a few different Toto toilets. They all worked. From a user perspective, it was a wash. Comfort height (taller) can be a good choice for locations that don't have a ton of kid activity (like master bath). Not sure if bidet raises the height even more though.

I guess I should have phrased my comment different, they dont need to go on a Toto toilet, but I will be installing it on a Toto toilet. For the aesthetics

IIRC Toto toilets are longer than most others. I think I remember looking at this a year ago and my current toilet, which I would consider to be elongated, is the dimensions of the Toto round. I think the elongated is like 2" longer, which is what the bidet I bought is. Besides that I dont know if there is different like side profiles or other crap like that that would maybe still fit on a different brand but look off.

Sheathing. 1/2 ply, fenceboards or roughcut 1x boards all work.

Ice guard and felt not required for outdoor buildings.

3/4" are shortest roofing nails, they will not poke thru 1x but they will poke thru 1/2". For 1/2, glue the nail strip with roof flashing sealant, then nail only where you can bury nails into rafters.

Toto have non standard shape. The bidets connect to Toto' s auto flush hands free toilet interface.

I have 2 Totos sitting in my garage, i refused to spend $300 ea on replacement seats so I ripped them out.

Turns out my ass is American Standard compatible.

We have 3 Toto Drakes. I'm sure it would flush anything that could possibly pass through any human.

$300 for a toilet seat is crazy. I went to buy a soft close seat for my toilet like 2 years ago, saw the cheapest one was like $80, and decided I didn't need a soft close toilet seat anymore.

hahaha thats good to hear. I'll take a look at those

I'm really liking the look of the one piece toilets with the full skirt. Looks like it would be a pain to install but it looks really nice.

Also I hate that I'm at a stage in life that the possibility of buying a nice new toilet is exciting to me.

If you really want a pimp toilet, tear your wall apart, fix the tile under existing toilet and install a wall mount. So much smaller in the room. Easy to clean the floor under/around it. Be prepared for sticker shock.

Have a toto at the old house. Comfiest seat I ever sh-sat on. Thought my in-laws were smoking crack on it the way it went. Still pretty comfy.

New place has a mixed bag of replacements.
The DXV? went in easily.

The American Standard needed a chunk cut out of the wall to fit the tank.

The Vovo needed the ceiling below removed to rerun the pipes, and was leaking afterwards, so we had the plumber come back, only to tell us it's a piece of crap, couldn't be fixed, and should be replaced. Called the store for a warranty claim, and they had a specialist come out pop a part into a different configuration with a pen, and voila, we have an awesome bidet.

Mine are older Aquias, both are demoted to garage shitters.

Like this?

They put an oversize Jacuzzi in the main bathroom and didn't have room for the crapper so they put it in the closet next to it.

Yes that's high gloss red paint and a chandelier. Claustrophobia anyone?
