Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I meant for the AC really makes no sense not to install a heat pump so you can heat for next to nothing on the shoulder seasons.

Sent using a thumb maybe 2
Got any links? May be worth looking into in that case.

18 year old washing machine went on the fritz. Ran to Lowe’s, looked around. Most of the things are similar prices…”what’s in stock that you can you deliver and install next week?”….ok, LG it is with an extra warranty purchased too.

Anyone want to make a bet that this one doesn’t make it to 18?

I dont think you will find anyone to take that bet.

JT also throws you $5000 for a heat pump so it costs you less than a/c (assuming hvac contractors arent all ***** and mark up heat pumps by 5k). Greener homes grant.
I looked into the enbridge rebate program. Won’t qualify for anything with my work.

My dad's is roughly 60 years old now. You'll notice you never see the Maytag repair man sitting around anymore.

Our washer which is significantly younger (We bought it when we got the house), has had one warrantly replacement of the door liner, and has been throwing an E01 F03 code more and more frequently for the last six months to a year. I replaced the part that is supposed to be the problem, but the issue was back within a month.

Giving people that can afford a property large enough to use a heatpump system a credit . Next we will be giving E vehicles credits and special parking spots .
Oh sorry , nevermind
You mean subsidize the rich, instead of eat them?

Large enough to use a heatpump? You mean any property owner? Even mini-split heat pumps qualify so you can retrofit a dwelling without ducting. As long as the system is sized to heat/cool the whole house, JT will give you money.

EDIT:

Anyone know whether this grant can be used for an outbuilding? My detached garage has a small apartment upstairs that is currently heated with resistive electric baseboards. I was planning to install a minisplit AC/heatpump - for $5K I can get it installed by a licensed contractor.

I dont think it is allowed. I think the main residence only. It's worth a look though if your apartment is a legal dwelling, maybe. The rules are pretty clearly defined.

18 years for the old washer
<18h for the new one.

LG machine likes to turn itself into a paddling pool once the power is off. Starts to very slowly fill with water when the cycle is finished leaving a few cups of water in the drum. We ran a few cycles as I guess it’s a water inlet valve issue and I was hoping it would seat itself but it hasn’t.

Now I’m trying to get the store to pick up this one and drop off a new one without having to return and repurchase and wait for new later delivery times.

Wow! That's ridiculous. I honestly have not heard anything good about LG appliances. Everyone that I know has issues within the warranty period.

As for me, bought a toilet once, installed it and it all appears to be working well. Then the damn flapper fails for some reason...such a simple piece.

Go to HD and talk to their customer service:

- Hey, installed your toilet and here's the receipt. The flapper valve is shot within 48h and I just need that piece
- No can do. Need the whole toilet?
- Say what?
- Yes, I need the whole toilet as I can't just replace the flapper
- You're kidding me right. You want me to go home, remove the toilet and bring it to you?
- Yes
- You go do it.
- Sir I don't like your attitude
- Manager please
- What's the problem?
- Your genius here is telling me I need to take out an entire toilet that I bought from you with a $hit flapper in order to replace a $20 piece
- Go find the one you need and come see me
- Thanks
- Ok have fun. Don't worry about paying.

@Scuba Steve you have a link to this AC + heat pump combo? My HVAC guy just said he's not aware of it (or is playing dumb). But he's a good guy so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
