Does anyone here snowboard???

First thing I bought after renting gear a few times was a sweet pair of Burton boots from Board Sports on Yonge St. I still have them and they are like new still after 5 years. Cost me $230 with the tax.

The board and bindings I got was from Play It Again and they have lasted me 4 years with out a problem. Board is a Tech9 and bindings are Burton and it cost me the same as what I payed for the boots:)

If you check out the Play it Again's soon you will find something for sure. If you wait for the season to start all the good stuff will be gone. I found it easier than going the kajiji route.

Watch out at Sport Check most of their staff are clueless. Last year they were telling my gf to buy the poor fitting ski boots and wear an extra pair of socks.
Yup worst idea ever, this resulted in me getting an injury a few years back and im still paying for it (and will be for life)

No wonder they make you sign that waiver ahah

I never talk to staff in stores like that other then maybe asking if they have something in stock.

That's why I usually spend few days on the Internet, googling and asking questions. So I have basic knowledge at least.

Specialized shops are a different story but you still got to watch out for urban myths and personal bias.

+1 for Board Sports as a decent place to buy.

I learned not to cheap out on bindings. I have burton customs (which imo work quite well), for my wife we picked up some used lamar bindings cheap. Everytime we go out I want to toss her board down the hill. The struggle to get in and out of her bindings is just incredible. A better set of bindings are in her future.

I bought a very stiff board on clearance to learn with, it's worked out, but it chucked me quite a few times, softer is your friend while learning (within reason).

I think I'll be doing Blue on Saturdays with a couple of friends.
So for any GTAM people who end up there - say hi to a guy that falls more often than others.

I've only been to Snow Valley... but I'm open to trying the other hills around. Blue, Horseshoe, etc..

Look for bright orange pants sticking out of the snow... so people don't have an excuse for leaving me there saying they couldn't see me.

Group buy for lift tickets if we can get a group of people together!!!

Don't mind setting something up if people will be down...it will most likey be BLUE since it's probably the only decent hill around here

Also...if no one heard of DC events...they do trips to Mont Tremblant, Jays, Killington, Smuggs...

if you need referral let me know!
I havent been to any of their trips, im a "member" though. I might wanna try killington...

I always do a small cottage rental trip to jay every year with about 7-8 other people, A BLAST

Hows the DC group? Dont you have to be asian? I'd love to go places with a bus.
my buddy who went down there loved it, pricing was great and what not but i think they got stuck at the border forever cause of the driver or somethin...otherwise

if you have to be azn, then im definitely breaking the rules
