Does anyone here snowboard???

Lets not forget blue is an icicle. Extra edge helps.
Yeah i was feeling it at the end of the season, hadnt sharpened it since the end of the previous season!

But i was lucky, got a few 'storms" when going up there last year :)

Check out play it again. I got my board there 4 years ago and I still love it. I've heard shorter is easier, not sure about the other stuff you mentioned though.

Tons of used and new snowboards and snowboard boots at Play It Again Sports at Yonge and Cummer. They wax and sharpen too. And carry all the accessories like helmets and wrist guards.

I'd invest on a really good pair of boots. Frozen feet and loss of circulation is ****** .. Specially when ur just learning
it won't even matter what board ride if your boots aren't properly fitted and comfortable
I'd stay away from buying a used pair ..

I don't mind buying used boots as long as they proper size and are in good shape. I'll just make sure I won't buy them unless they are a perfect fit.
There's a pretty good bundle deal on kijiji that I will check out tomorrow.

Since every one is advising to do so, I'll pick up a helmet as well. I'll check out a few local stores. Have no idea what the prices are yet or half decent brand names. Have to do more research.

Wrist support seems like a good idea and extra cushion for my tail bone too so I'll see what I can pick up.

You make a good point, it's like "yeah, I probably should've used a condom" ... but there's used and there's abused.

Personal hygiene is important but you kinda get the feel when you meet the seller.

For example - I got race boots couple days ago off some kid. Only wore them for his Humber course and then managed to break his hand.
They are practically new, no stank. 1/3 of the price vs. the store.

Motorcycle helmets are the only gear that I buy new because it's hard to say whether they've been dropped or no and there's direct contact with your scalp while with boots you still wear socks.

Alright, I got a list of places to visit tomorrow:Gravity Boards, Surf Paradise, Skiis & Biikes if I go east of my house.
Corbetts, Hustler Snowboards if I go west.
May also check out Sport Mart and Sporting Life.

Any other suggestions? Prefer South of Dundas - Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville.

boots soften as they experience more use. Not to mention no two pair of feet are alike, meaning that the person that has broken in the boots before you, you likely will not get the same break-in with that used pair. Don't buy used, you will end up paying more in the long run. Snowboards/bindings on the other hand, I think are okay to buy used depending on condition.

watched a report on 16:9 regarding snowboard helmets... apparently, the majority of them do very little in protecting against impacts, major or minor. I wear one regardless as they keep me warm and I don't really see the harm of keeping the bucket over my head.

I'll see if they have any sales tomorrow, if it's affordable, maybe I will buy a new pair.
The boots in question were used 10 times according to the seller. So probably no more than 40 hours or so. Burton Ruler.

Helmets don't bother me either. I don't think anyone who's been riding a bike has an issue with them. Surprised about those findings though.

... And yes, Amazon, I forgot about Sport Chek. Cheers!

Watch out at Sport Check most of their staff are clueless. Last year they were telling my gf to buy the poor fitting ski boots and wear an extra pair of socks.

Id recommend hustler over any of those, everyone who works there are top notch skaters or snowboarders. Thats basically the only place i will buy my hard goods from, even when i can get my pro deals online. Chances are they will still have a decent amount of last years gear and you will be able to put a package together for a good deal, they are always willing to bargain a bit.

Board Sports on Yonge St.

Bangers worked at shop as well. Let me see if I can get the name for you.

Friend of mine got a concussion with a brand new helmet she bought last year... it's better than nothing, but don't expect it to perform miracles.

Maybe I should just wear my spare race helmet lol.

My buddy used to wear his dirt bikeing helmet with a mohawk on it. Hilarious:)

I'm not at the skill/budget to buy brand new gear.... I have a winter jacket and snowpants... so I'll stick with Kijiji searching.

Once I really pick it up/get comfortable (good at intermediate hills) I'll consider buying and upgrading. For now, I just need something that slides that will fit me right.
