Does anyone here snowboard???

If you're just starting , don't waste your money on a Burton anything expensive. Heck, my first board i bought used form a ski hill for $50 (boots and bindings included) the tip had been glued back on but 2 years later I bought a newer board. I spent $100 on my second board and only sold that one because I got bigger and taller. My latest board cost $150, it's a Morrow, and even competing against 100+ other girls on Burtons and expensive boards, I came 6th in a slalom race. So if people keep saying you need a good pro model expensive name brand board to ride well, that's bull. Save your money until you learn how to ride properly then get something that you really like that works for your style.

NOOOOO!!!!!! Buy expensive boards to start and then give up after one try and sell them on kijiji at a huge cut rate!!!! It helps people like me save money! I love those people!

Thanks for the suggestions and no worries - I am the last person to blow a load of cash on something I am not even sure I will like.
I also have very little desire to impress others, so new and shiny is not a necessity.
I'll probably find something on Kijiji. Seems like there's quite a selection there for skateboarding equipment.

It depends on your weight/build..... go to Sportchek and check out the boards themselves. That same site said I needed a 156/157 but those were too short. 159/160 is slightly above my chin.

A helmet is a must! Too easy to hit your head. I seem more people on the hills now with helmets then those without one.

After having seen friends 'being crashed in' twice right in front of me, I bought a helmet right away. One of the crashes involved him getting hit once by each ski. He got a concussion and wouldve have a cracked skull if he didnt have a helmet.

If you wanna learn at blue id strongly suggest one of these 2 packages

The night time one is cool as its less expensive. The girlfriend tried last year and liked it. :)

Had someone slam into me at Blue two years ago and my knee bounced of the ice on the hill. I wear my dirt biking knee/shin pads now. Always worn a helmet too.

What you intend to ride is also important. For park and street rails i ride a 151 Capita stair master, for my all around boards and for when i was coaching i tend to keep them between 154-157. Weights a good base point, but once you have been riding for a while it isnt as much of a factor compared to your riding style.
