Do we need a different classification system for members?

With public toilets being closed for COVID, crapping on BMWs sounds like a decent idea. The seats look comfy!
That would be a Berlin Steamer.

Fun Fact: Harley Davidson and BMW's current lineups were developed under the stewardship of Americans design chiefs. BMW was pretty sleepy till American Dave Robb took the reigns designing the S1000RR and R1200GS.

#StopBMWHate

Don't try to fight it. It's a thing now.

The profiteering mass media is going to create this whole false narrative to divide all motorcycle riders, and distract us from the fact that it's the Harley riders that perpetrate all sorts of hate crimes on the road against non-HD riders, like not waving at other motorcycle brands. And leaving a trail of oil behind them so other riders crash in their wake.

Anyone that doesn't agree with me hates the Truth.

Rides to Buffalo for wings.
Pip's album debut.

I miss when Gtam hosted halloween parties and track days. It was my first ever track day and Sircastic (RIP) lent me one of his race bikes.

Met some great people through this site, made some embarrassing posts (prom ?), and learned life lessons, like don't flush carrots down your toilet.

and learned life lessons, like don't flush carrots down your toilet.

There's been great strides made in toilet technology since then.

One thing I'd like to see, is a bot that checks through Romper Room.

If anybody posts more than three times in the same thread in a midnight-midnight clock cycle, they get a timeout until midnight that night, plus midnight the following night.

To fix the work around, you're allowed two free edits before it becomes a post. Think @油井緋色 could build that in for us?

It would make people more thoughtful with their posts, and have them hesitate before pressing Post reply. It would also cut down on a lot of the repetitive trash.

First free edit: Sometimes I think there must be some special reward for post counts.
It would take me months to win Motorcycle Show tickets from Paul if that happened!

Couple of things:

There are many different kinds of intelligences. Being STEM-smart and knowing how to rebuild an engine doesn't mean you have the emotional intelligence not to be baited into a flamewar and getting banned as a result.

Totally not excusing myself here. We *all* have our blindspots about the way we behave and come across online.

IMO, the most intelligent people on this board haven't posted a single thing: "better to be thought a fool and than to open your mouth and confirm it"...

What constitutes a "good comment"? One that validates and reinforces your beliefs or world view? It's entirely subjective.

What isn't subjective are the current rules. Insult someone and that's an infraction. Cut and dried. Don't want to get an infraction or get banned? Then grow DF up.

Lastly, those actively moderating the forum are not paid to do so. It's a thankless job that *EVERYBODY* should acknowledge and be grateful for, because the tone on this board is fantastic compared to the sh!tshow that others have become because the members are given free rein to sling crap at each other in the name of "debating" politics, religion, etc.

It is a very big ask to a volunteer to play judge, jury and terminator on every single post with content that someone on the board doesn't agree with.

We're all adults here. Let's shift some of that policing to ourselves instead, shall we?
and *then*

Sorry
It's an addiction

OK, how about people who repeatedly annoy you, on a near daily basis, simply because, in your opinion, they're full of poop or spreading disinformation? Seriously, blocking 2 people made all the difference in the world.
I block nobody. Occasionally the zealot posters annoy me, but rarely do their posts rise to the level where I’d feel better blocking the poster.

What might be better is a bullshi+ symbol in the “like” feature. Years ago I ran a popular hockey forum, it was cantankerous at times, if a post was shot down as extreme or offensive by a number of readers it was flagged for moderating.

And now I'm curious about this prom post

+1

same here. those who resort to blocking and need to announce to other members that they blocked me, just tells me who the snowflakes are....

Yeah I don't block anyone either, there is plenty to learn even if you don't agree with the other person's view or comment, it can just give you valuable perspective. I'm sure ya'll have gathered this from my posts... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:?

Some other forums do have a thumbs down for comments. It's a interesting feature, but again since we are dealing with people, this can be abused for no reasons at all, other then dislike of the poster rather then the content. ?‍♂️

The Doug Ford post got locked now as well I see? I didn't think anyone stepped out of line on that one.
