do people who ride litre bikes have a lot of self control?

I rode a friends CBR1000RR around elephant lake and few other twisties and managed to keep rubber side down no problem. I think it just depends on the person riding it. I might have gone really fast in the corners, but I know when not to pin the throttle, like in traffic or 400 series highways

I've heard that a lot of the road riders with no chicken strips tend to play chicken with cars coming the other way. Is that true?

i guess that it would have to do with the rider. i've know far too many riders without ANY wear on the sides of their tires completely blow corners into oncoming traffic at slow speeds.

but only a true idiot would brag of knee dragging sweepers while having said chicken strips.

my old man's been riding for little over 35 years now and he currently rides a 09 fz1 , he yells at me for riding (in my 250) like a lunatic yet he races porsches on the freeway after work....i guess your concern of self control....really depends on your definition of the subject, cause you can have absolutely no self control when the surrounding is completely soulless....

the gel seat rocks. get one ASAP. I rode my '05 busa 14 hours straight to The GAP. only lost a little sensation in my right nut. :P

Sent you a pm on that. Still trying tof igure out which one to go for. Corbins a bit on the pricier side, and a few other cheaper aftermarkets are goin for anywhere between $50 -$150. Trying to decide on the right one. btw saw your vid at deals gap. Nice one!!!

On both my Busas GENI & GENII, I went with the suzuki factory OEM gel seats, they were better quality, looked & felt better-Ty

hmmm every one on here is on that... "respect the bike... self control... know the time and place" really?

I for one can tell you there has been instances where I just said screw it and just opened it up. I am certain that those that are giving 'cautious' advise have done their share of wide opens.

Do I lack self control? Perhaps. Because I am easily irritated by ignorant drivers. But I am also the same individual that'll will stay in the right lane doing 100 while the traffic is moving 120.

I guess you can call me a 'MOODY' rider! lol

...and for those talking about the power delivery of litre bikes need to understand that not all litre bikes respond the same way. My 05 CBR1000RR has a very linear power delivery where as my 04 R1 leaves a smile on my face... and my 09 ZX10r is just plain STUPID!!! I have never owned a Gixxer nor will I ever so I cannot comment on it. As stated not all 1000s behave the same way. Its like anyone can jump on a CBR1000RR and just go fast... but try doing that with a 04-05 ZX10r without some time under your belt?!?!?!

P.S. Don't take me the wrong way, I was looking for a cheap used Busa this year but there aren't any around right now. It was the fastest thing out there, it is still very fast in objective terms, but the S1000RR is faster in all ways that I care about. :P

that's why there are all these different flavours for us to choose from :P

S1000RR is a sweet bike.

so you are "respecting the bike"

....having self-control and respecting your bike doesn't mean riding like a granny :P

Pegging an old Busa and a 14 against two prime superbikes seems like a useless test. The Busa is a sport touring bike. It's not even in the same class. The more logical shoot-out is here:

BMW is still the winner, but at least it's up against it's proper enemies. And as I (and others) have already written, it's clear that BMW and Aprillia are NOT following the big fours agreement in slowing down the liter bikes. BMW is very smart in marketing a 180 HP bike, as that will most certainly translate into sales. What's left to be seen is if the big four respond with HP increases as there's no real governing body to tell BMW how to behave.

All I am saying is... it requires more skill to be able to go fast / faster on that particular bike than a Honda.

...and dont judge me for my granny ways!!!!

Trust the Germans to ignore what other countries are asking for/agreeing to and seek world domination. Total surprise. :D

I think the Japanese Bike Manufacturers should now have the attitude "All Bets are off" and bring it, I am moving to the BMW1000S RR, fell in love with this bike , going to love getting to try a different type of machine, however having said that not ready to call it a "Busa Killer", I still show some love & respect to the KING, was loyal for many years to the brand, however getting frustrated with the fact it took them 10 yrs to finally release a GENII bike 2008 and as of late I feel Suzuki is not even trying to at least come up with some decent color schemes or models and have not improved the bike in any sort of Performance,it's going to be 2012 and no indications of anything new to come :( I would think for a FLAGSHIP machine and it's loyal fan base they would want to uphold that reputation and continue to dominate. Fair enough to say to is well is sky the limit? Meaning should they go and make 220mph machines with say ridiculous 1800cc motors for example equipped with turbos? a guy can dream i guess, not to mention the cost associated with that and here in Canada due to our decline in sales in the industry we could not afford them which is unfortunate. Having said that, looks like BMW is stepping up for the challenge and i'm not giving to much to it that they aren't cleaning up in wins in WSBK, don't care, need more development time which i'm sure they will get there.-Ty
