Did you exercise today?

what about skiing for yourself?
A few reasons. 1) Easier to teach if you can demonstrate. 2) Super awkward twist on skiis if you are holding the snowboarder to help them balance while moving down the hill.

Thankfully, it should only be an hour or two more before they can balance semi-comfortably and they don't want to grab onto someone. We mostly got there heel side yesterday. This kid can be good but gives up mentally long before they reach their physical limits. That slows the learning curve substantially. I'm not looking forward to the first time they catch a downhill edge and get slammed.

Wife is snowboarding today and I am walking again. That should be funny. She was marginal the last time she boarded a decade ago. She swore she was done with boarding but kids have super powers to get parents to do things.

Don't see it at the moment so it probably sold already. Not surprised as I had 30 replies on it from people up to 3.5hrs away wanting it in the first day. I guess they're in demand as they don't make them anymore.
Just saw a 45” on FBMP…2k! That’s a beast with duallies on it for wheels!

This is the story of my life. My kids can do 2-hour training sessions in their respective sports. Get them doing something new/different and its more about how interested they are ;)

I mean the kid can trampoline for an hour straight and do flips and what not, but get him to run a slowish pace for 1 minute and it's the hardest workout in the world

Lots more laps today. Good attitude after a lecture about "can't". I got really bored of that and each subsequent mention was going to cost a day of tablet. At the rate we were going up to that point, we would have finished off the winter today. Distinct improvement after. Saying it's hard or you want help is fine, can't is entirely counterproductive.

Skiing tonight so we can pick up the pace.

*whew*. Glad I'm not at risk. 😜
The key word in that article is ‘excessive’. Moderate weight lifting is still very beneficial according to that article / study, but over 2hrs/week and heavy lifting is bad.

I can’t say I’m surprised in any way. You’re literally tearing your body apart for it to rebuild. Let’s assume some performance enhancements in the upper limits…no shock.

Anything in excess is bad, right?!

And yeah im hearing more and more about muscle being tied to anti-ageing, for the obvious benefits (coordination, pain, etc) but for other factors that can affect cognition and others.

A friend of a friend is a physio/personal trainer. She said there was a strong correlation between being able to stand from the floor using only one leg and life expectancy. I didn't check her references, but it seems probable. While standing using one leg is not a very necessary skill on its own, it is a test of muscle vs weight, flexibility and balance all of which can help prevent injury and/or immobility (which then lead to lower health and shorter life expectancy).

Seems to tie in with my buddies "if you can put your socks on standing on one foot" theory.

Started off with the 5X5 on Jan 3 as follows:

Squat - 94lbs
Bench - 44lbs
OH Press - 44lbs
BB Row - 44lbs
DL - 44lbs

As of today:

Squat - 164lbs
Bench - 134lbs
OH Press - 104lbs
BB Row - 94lbs (elbow pain like a mofo - may be the reason for my previous issue)
DL - 144lbs (20 reps today)

Slow and steady progress...each weight includes 5 sets of 5 reps at the weight indicated (except today's DL as that's to failure).

Also down about 4lbs since start...but that fluctuates day to day so I'll take today's morning weight as a benchmark.

All,

We’ve been asked to try and nudge posts in this forum (Romper Room) to stay on topic (see thread titles/original posts). I know we have a knack for veering off the tracks but let’s try our best.

Case in point;

“Snowblowing is great exercise so get out there!!” Fine.

Who has a link for that new craftsman blower on sale??? Not bueno.

If you have something to add that will veer us off course, we would ask you create a new thread to discuss.

Thanks, as always.

Don't you have a wife and kids? Get them to hang on the bar. Great stability exercise.

Thanks. I bought my half squat rack many years ago and love it. It was a struggle buying used so I just bought new.

I’ll never give it up so long as I am able to lift. I wish I had more space…but I don’t so gotta make this work, and it doesn’t take up much actual floor space.

I’d take a photo but I’m embarrassed by the mess around it .
