Covid opportunities???

I’ve seen a few of those. But for the majority I’ve seen even want their security deposit and cash deposits back.

basically all they want is out of the lease with minimal incentives.

That will change as people start losing pay . This thing has just begun . People will start offering bigger incentives to dump monthly payments and keep their homes . We are in for a rude awakening as to why being fiscally responsible is the way to live .

I am leaning on my wife to shut everything down. We are in decent shape, but now is the time to setup for retirement. If we don't need it right now, we aren't spending money on it. She is great, but is still struggling with need vs "need".

I would hazard a guess that the majority of people that say the need something really just want it. We have just lost touch with what we actually need and let wants creep in to fill that category. The fresh berries every few days are going to give me a heart attack. Yeah, they're delicious but very very far from a need.

Motorcycles are a need, right?

Asking for a friend.

Who wants beer? Bars stocked up for St Paddies day (at some bars apparently six figures worth of beer) and now can't open and can't return them. You might be able to get a good deal on kegs if you have the ability to tap them at home.

It depends. If it was ebola, a trials bike or klr gets you away from the hoard farther and faster than almost any other ground transportation once the roads get blocked.

I think this one will work, then.

Went through that phase too . If it can`t be paid for in cash it is usually deferred . Amazing how you sleep when there are no worries financially .

I can't believe no one has mentioned the stock market. If you've got the cash and can wait a year or 3 ... this is the buying opportunity of our lifetime!!!

Make sure your funeral is prepaid, before you go and hunt for opportunities.

I was wondering about storage as a business opportunity. People own all kinds of crap they can't store including M/Cs.

Buy a bunch of out of service shipping containers and stick them on a farm somewhere. Keep one in the city as a transfer point.

I was talking with people that own self-storage facilities (dozens of them). Their advice is throw everything out. They see lockers with old furniture covered in an inch of dust. People have paid many thousands to store possessions they will never use and can be sold for hundreds at best. Kind of like the stock market, know when to cut your losses.

Now, obviously it's a viable business but again, I think people will be cutting back so stopping the monthly storage bill is a good place to start (and generates a little money when the crap gets sold).

Who's farm?
How are you going to move the containers?

There's storage facilities all over the gta.. and hundreds of warehouses offering storage.
And just outside the city.. there's farms, and property owners, all over the place offering storage.

I agree with this statement. Throw your crap out.

However it must be a good business as I do seem to see a lot of them popping up all over the GTA.

I would think that it is a pretty low maintenance business. Other than the possibility to chasing people for their monthly payments you really do not need much staff.

A lot of the investment is up front to buy or build the place with proper security infrastructure etc.
After that you may need 1-2 staff at the front desk (if the unit has an office). The rest is most likely done on the back end.

You dont need to chase much. Credit card on file. If it bounces for x days, your stuff is gone.

2nd closet spends a fortune advertising on facebook for the downtown crowd. They pickup and dropoff your stuff instead of you going to them. It costs a lot for that convenience though. As an upside to 2nd closet, they can pack a lot more people in the same volume as they dont have a ton of half empty lockers.
