COVID and the housing market

The Poljots get a lot of wear, I really wanted a Breitling Navitimer in the collection....I picked up the Poljots to bridge me until I bought one, never did buy a Breitling....
I tried to trade the witschi watch tester for a breitling once many years ago. Flatly rejected. It was worth a shot.

Friend just bought a Vostok , he bought a really deluxe one for $125. Crazy good value and a really fun tool.

I'm not wearing a 9k watch to change the snowtires. It is one of those sliding scales of reality, buddy wears a 16grand rolex everyday, grinding fiberglass whatever, thats just dumb. My watches are tools and i use them accordingly , a hammer is a hammer, you dont use the $300 fluke meter to hammer in tacks .
It is also a great example of the concept if you are worried about damaging it in "normal" use, you could buy it but you can't really afford it.... Also goes for cars and motorcycles etc.

I wear a cheap Timex 99.99% of the time because I can suddenly go from casual cool to pounding the crap out of a project. I have no idea of the monetary value of my good watch but it belonged to my next door neighbour and was given to me by his daughter when he passed away. To me it's priceless.

I like watches with stories. Monetary value is less important imo. What is the watch?

This is the watch my grandfather used to set other watches:

This is me. I have no problem cleaning the snow off the car with a snow shovel. I finally got a plastic shovel.

Awesome. Is that one of the annoying stretchy watch bands that used to be popular? It's interesting that they installed that small sliver of the 6. I don't know how I feel about that.

Be careful with the anti-slip grippy no go stuff the watch is on. Over time it breaks down and releases goo ime. Not sure if the goo will hurt the watches.

Yes, I think the original band was leather, but my sweat eats them. I ended up getting the band for free, as it was the only one in the shop.
I just put the watch on that stuff to take the picture.

Some of you would cry if you knew how many expensive watches I lost, or destroyed as a kid, just by wearing them.

Me too. I thought $35K to buy was a deal but rent???? $3,000 a month?????

Is there tax on parking fees?
The top end of pricing for buying a parking spot is 120K in Toronto. For 3000/month, the parking spot better include the coach house above it. Rental parking spots top out at about $500 a month with valet service.

For $3,000 a month you could hire a chauffeur and let him keep the car at his place. School bus drivers don't make that much money.

My father was chauffeur for a cabinet minister in a different country and when he dropped his boss off at the gentlemen's club he was given a few bob to spend at the pub down the road. They were both likely partly tanked on the way home but driving around a cabinet minster is a get out of jail card.
