I think you have nailed most of the problem. So few games each year and so much space required. To cover costs, ticket price has to be high but then nobody would go. They keep ticket prices so so people show up but that's not a business, that's a hobby.I haven't been to a game since the early 60's, and likely will never go. But, I kinda sorta feel for the die hards.
Drive by the stadium on game day (or see it on the news)....look at the fans, signs, face/body paint etc. They're having a blast. For most of them, it's their "escape", someting to look forward to, every couple weeks during the season. As riders, many look forward to saddling up, to escape / have a blast, smile.
Not many non riders would notice if riding dissappeared.
Keep the cfl (without massive bailouts) for the fans.
Update from Douggie. Sounds like a kosher trip in line with his statements and media blew it up.Surprise, surprise. Despite douggie pleading with everyone not to go to the cottage, guess where he went at easter? Friggin wankers. All of them.
Coronavirus: Doug Ford visited cottage despite pleas for Ontario residents to stay home | Globalnews.ca
Sources with knowledge of the trip said Premier Doug Ford had to "check on the plumbing" at his summer residence, which is currently under renovation.globalnews.ca
Can confirm...had water line burst at parents' cottage. Actually (and unfortunately) the last 2 years we've literally gone to the cottage to: clean the yard, mow the lawn, clean the siding, and check nothing is flooded or no one broke in. Have not gone to the cottage to actually sit and enjoy it in years. Typically leave in the morning, and back home by dinner.Update from Douggie. Sounds like a kosher trip in line with his statements and media blew it up.
"On Sunday morning of Easter, my team told me I got the morning off and it was the first time I got off in two months and it's weighing on me because a couple years ago we had burst pipes make a terrible mess, thousands of dollars of damage, and that night I was thinking about it."Doug Ford visited his Muskoka cottage on Easter Sunday
Ontario Premier Doug Ford visited his cottage on Easter Sunday to check on the plumbing but didn’t interact with anyone on the drive up, his office confirms.www.cp24.com
"I woke up early in the morning, around 5:30 a.m., and then I just got ready and hopped in the pickup truck myself at 6:30 a.m. and I drove up there and I checked it out, made sure everything was OK, it was, and literally hop hop back in my truck and drove right back and I was back by noon."
Yeah, that doesn't sound like a problem, and not in line with my first impressions upon hearing about it. I'm not a Doug fan either, but it's just a total non-story.
Don't get me wrong, it will be a little sad to see it go, but contrary to JT's belief, there is not infinite money to distribute. It is pretty clear that the CFL is not a viable business and hasn't been for a long time. Its' teams are toys for rich folks. Sometimes your toys crash and burn. If the rich folks want to keep the league running so they can brag that they own a professional sports team, all the power to them. Giving hundreds of millions to effectively a dozen multi-multi millionaires to fix their toys is hopefully even beyond JT's level of waste and stupidity.prairies are the only places where anyone gives a crap about the CFL
even in Vancouver they're mostly Sea Hawks fans
it's a sub-par game that should have gone 4 down a long time ago
would be bad for Saskatchewan sports fans though
they love their 'Riders
The political motivation to throw some cash at them may be Western Canada. The CFL is still popular there and letting them fail will just be one more western alienation crying point.
At the end of the day, it is a business and many businesses are getting money and I don't see it much different than that, but not $150M...
You have less docks than before or you now have half of an extra dock?Concur.
My aunt and uncle went up to check our cottage and found that winter left us this parting gift.

Read about that, something associated with or similar to Kawasaki disease symptoms. Not really sure if this is something else we have to worry about with the Covid threat...
Mr. Cuomo said Friday that 73 children in New York area had been reported afflicted with the illness, which doctors have labeled “pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome.”MSN

We had 3 trees come down at my parents' cottage last year....1 brushed the house, the other 2 somehow fell away from the house. Very lucky with minimal damage to the deck. I've got enough firewood to last me a couple of years there.Found our dock at the other end of the lake one year. Now we pull it out and put it up on higher ground.
A year or two ago a tree beside the cottage lost a branch which took out a good chunk of the roof.
The tree is about 5' in diameter and 4 times the height of the cottage.
I should check with my brother and see if anyone has been up.
yeah 2 years back a tree fell across our neighbors property the afternoon we were driving up, missed our cottage by about 5 ft. called my uncle and he asked what anyone was doing about it, i told him the neighbor was grabbing a chainsaw and muttered something about firewood. my uncle drove to join us and we're still burning the wood lol.Found our dock at the other end of the lake one year.
