Ruh Roh. Mutated virus on mink farms. Denmark locked down people and slaughtering all minks. Poor fuzzy things. Will this finally be the end of fur trade? Wiping out the nations livestock and starting from scratch is an epic task that may not be financially viable.

Someone's going to hide some, and reinfect everyone.

Heck no.

As much as I'd love to cruise this winter...even when they do get going again it's going to be a gong show. Already on the cruise forums & FB pages there's denialists scheming how to get onboard and then openly planning to just just blow off all the health guidelines the second the ship leaves the pier.

Screw that. We're still looking at a possible all inclusive to Cuba or something in January/Feb. Yeah, we'll have to quaranting when we're home...I'm fine with that - my wife is working from home anyways so it makes zero difference to her, and me, well, I've been looking for an opportunity to have a few weeks off to gut our upstairs bathroom and do the long overdue renovation on it.

If I was going to cruise at this point, I'd need a suite.

I love cruise ships, but I'm not going near one in the next couple years I'm afraid. People come from all over the planet to get on a cruise ship and as we have seen, not every country is doing a good job. USA......

Suite or not, unless you’re going to never leave it 24/7 and live on room service (which is becoming more limited on some lines, suite or not, and tends to be a pretty limited menu) it’s not an avenue I’d consider.

We were in a suite on our last cruise in Feb this year. Nice and all, but I still like getting out and about on the ship.

Agree. That would be like all the poor suckers stuck in condos downtown. You are missing all of the best parts of that location and stuck with the crap parts. If you are going to hang out in your room, what is the upside to the cruise?

Well......if you're in one of the epic level suites on some of the newer ships, I suppose I could kind of get it as you have many of the luxuries of the ship right in your own room.

But we're talking the $10,000/night level suites on something like Anthem of the Seas there.

And then there's stuff like this.... I could see myself never leaving my room I guess.

We were in a Grand Suite on our last cruise on Carnival Pride (the highest suite class the ship has) and it's comparatively a joke compared to the level of suites available on the new ships if your pockets are deep enough. But priced accordingly.

At 10,000 a night I would be on an adventure but not on a floating city.

So many bike meets, cars meets, and generally tons of people in groups that we saw on Hwy 27, Hockley Valley (primarily the general store) and Orangeville along the route home from the cottage...we were going through without stopping but I honestly could not see a SINGLE person wearing a mask. People were sitting together, hanging out in groups....no masks, no social distancing, I hope it was just me not seeing it, but even my wife commented on it. We're going to be in for a long ass winter.

In all honesty we're also considering this. If I'm working from home anyway what's the difference? Kid doesn't go to Daycare for 2 weeks, sure we pay for it anyway...but both wife and I can be at home, and grandma is stuck with us anyway. If I'm working again...different story.

Story time...my good friend went from NZ to Poland for his mother's untimely death recently. I spoke with him and asked why he's not going home. Apparently:
1. Needs to do COVID-19 test before he leaves Poland
2. Test result came back positive (his only symptom being an infrequent dry cough - similar to mine that I get each year)
3. Now he is in quarantine in Poland
4. NZ doesn't have space in their hotels that are set up for international travellers until Dec 29, so his 2 week trip to Poland for a funeral turned into an 8 week stay, and the only reason he can't go home earlier is because of lack of space to quarantine in as all the hotels / rooms are booked.
5. Assuming he test negative before his flight, he may need to extend it further.

And people wonder why this is spreading and case numbers are increasing.

I don't think the province got the colour categories right. Epidemiologists have torn into them (to trigger the upper categories, you need infection rates higher than much of the US), Peel MOH has ignored the provincial guidelines and implemented much stricter rules because he believes they are necessary. The peel rules are pretty harsh (at restaurants, just one family per table, do not visit anyones home or yard, etc, basically work and hang out with your own family and no friends for the foreseeable future).

Wow I didn't even read the Peel region restrictions until now...very tight. Guess we'll be cancelling all plans moving forward again.

Not exactly a small factor to take into consideration for world travel ? in fact I think that might be #1
