You will not find a civic driver with a "fast" civic in ontario who would agree to run a 600ss or bigger from a dead stop.
There's no way that a car can accelerate from a dead stop at the same rate that basically any ss bike can.

However, start the roll at 80, or even 120km/h and its a whole new ballgame. All of a sudden you have a relatively light car(2000 lbs + or -) with about 400 or 500 whp and gear ratios that suit the speed they are going. No longer is traction a problem, and full power can be applied.

Then you take into account that most bikes, once they reach around 100 km/h, start to slow their rate of acceleration, and the civic, or whatever, has an advantage due to their increased hp level.

+1...thats what i have been trying to say....from a stop ( most likely the racing people do on the streets...er track) a car will not beat a bike! esp a civ vs a 600ss. no fackin way in hell! end of story! done!. EDIT: unless its a serious drag car with some heavy work...not likely if this guy is farting around at a timmies, and too pussy to actually race! if you are already rolling, the car will have the advantage at higher speeds due to more power and aero-dynamics...if he wants to race you from a stop...DO IT! you will win! unless you stall or do something dumb. make some money off this clown

you guys are both funny...Hell I know of some cars that I'd be deathly afraid to run on a litre bike let a lone a 600SS from a dig...and I'm talking about daily driven cars on street tires here. I'm both a bike and a car guy but if theres one thing I do not have its that biker mentality that sportbikes are untouchable. Dont get me wrong, 9 times out of ten a bike will stomp anything you run into on the road during an average day but to say "a car will not beat a bike from a stop" is an ignorant statement.

dude, thats not what we are talking about here....ANY bike wont beat ANY car...thats not what i was saying ...the car in question is a civ and the bike in question is a 600ss. RE-READ! thanks.

but seriously, if u really wanna race, just go for it. dont worry what we have to say, drop a couple bills and have at it...if anything you will learn to pick ur races better in the future... , ur gunna hear 100 different things from 100 different people, size up his ride, if it looks like it will beat you, dont race...none of us have seen this car, so we dont know, only you can judge, personally i wouldnt even race, not worth gettin busted or risking ur health/bike...oh ya and if u do... DONT GET BUSTED!!! if you make my insurance go up next year, im coming after you  , hehe ,

my A.D.D. is kicking in, and im losing interest in this thread...lemme know how it ends... , peace

Sorry if posting this late, just got online. I know UNTCHBLE and his white civic hatch. I actually raced him last year with my convertible. Unless he spent big money upgrading over the last few months he cannot beat any decently ridden 600 sport bike.

I would place his car into the mid-low 13's in the 1/4 category as my Vette walked away from him off the line and all the way till the end. It is all talk.

Now for a real bike killer. Just saw a race this weekend on the street.

mid-late 80's Mustang versus a 2004 R1 (yes, it was a '04 R1 as I know the owner). The rider could ride (of course he had a bad tire on the rear which may have killed it) and the Mustang beat him, both off the line and at the end of the 1/4 by about 1-1.5 cars.

Of course this was probably a 600HP Mustang with drag slicks on the back, not a Civic.

his name is matt, and him and i had a bet going on before, it took a lil bit to clear up, but he doesnt say it will beat all 600's he said that it has beat 600's and that in a 1/4 he will loose, but on the highway, say 120+ he says it will pull

Actually, Untouchable is not Matt. I believe GSRMatt may have sold off or parted his Civic. It is a fast car and if he can get it to hook it will give most average ridden 600's a run for the money. He was on this forum with an R6 but I also think he sold for an R1 now.

Jay, if you're still around ridding the Gixxer, you've got to give this Mustang a run. I think it may be a challenge but the Stang owner somehow doesn't believe 1k bikes can break into 9's. If you can get your gixxer to hook the stang runs low 10's. Let me know and I may be able to hook up a run (private).

If it is the guy I know...his name is Mike P., and he runs 9 seconds with that thing. He has 650hp under the hood and is sponsored to race. TLC had a show about him and his buddies street racing in Woodbridge back in the day. Dont race for a lot of money as you will most likely lose unless he screws up at the beginning. Also...dont risk messing up yourself or your bike for some guy who wants to make money like that.

That guy used to cruise around my Highschool. That civic was fast. I knew some guys that hung around him and saw that A&E show. That was a wicked civic!!

This thread is full of retards...

With enough money in modifications, any car can beat a 600 supersport... especially a Civic considering how broad the aftermarket is for those cars. Those of you who think you're untouchable on your little 600s are in for a rude awakening when you get whooped by a front wheel drive grocery-getter one day....

Not every Civic on the road is owner by a ricer gino who stops spending money after he buys a bodykit and wheels. You won't even see the fast ones coming.

ive been into drag cars for about 5 years now.....i know alittle about them...i had a 500rwhp mustang....full drag suspension...12inch street slicks, 410 gears....so it was just for the 1/4 mile. now i have beeten 600ninja....not sure what year...but looked like 2000....anyways there are alot of cars especially in vaughan and scarberia who will take a supersport bike....and yes even the 1000cc's. but these are all drag/muscle/hypo cars. i know alot of mustangs that run low 10's on the street. hell go to the car show on mondays at pine valley and hwy7...you can see what i mean. but these are cars that people only drive once in a while.....not everyday cars. i know civics have been able to beat bikes,,,,im not saying they cant.....just saying they are very very rare....infact i havent seen it...doesnt mean they arent out there....but being in the race hobby i know one thing for sure....YOU CANT ALWAYS BE THE FASTEST no matter what.

Why has this become a hate session agianst the guy with his car...i just asked a simple question if it was possible for him to beat a 600..and if anyone knew him or could back what he has said...

Its a matter of just saying, with mods yeah he can or no he cant...

bikes are fast but there are some cars that are faster...just wanted to know if his was or not...

well cant help you out there....dont know his car...dont know his mods....but yeah.....of course its possible....but very rare also lol

It doesn't matter if a 1k can, or can't, break into the 9's!!! The real question is....Can the rider??? Just cause the magazine says your gsxr1000 can run 9.9's, doesn't mean your gonna do it....

why I took the time to Re-Read your post as per your instructions I dont know....you claim that "a bike will not beat a car, esp. a car like a civic"...that would imply to me that in addition to all other cars the civic especially has no chance. I'm not trying to be a hard ass....the first time i read your post thats how I interpreted, although I realize you may not have meant it to imply what your post conveyed.

Long story short, there are cars lurking out there (and probably a lot more than you think) that you do not want to tangle with whether it be from a dig or a highway roll.

As for the main point of this discussion, without knowing any details about the car its anyones guess. Is it possible? yes...anything is possible in the automotive world.

+1...thats true, none of us really knows anything about this car, so its useless to specualte any further...im just bored at work, and trolling the site like no-other, hahaha.

lol, this thread is funny  :P

regardless of argueing, if we arent takin "stock" setups of cars and bikes, u can just look at the numbers or race them and see who wins....

otherwise, its all relative! the more $$$ u spend to make yer car/bike faster and more time u spend tuning/making it run properly, the faster u will go........lightweight + high HP = fast machine, regardless of what it is.

Funny, tons of trash talk..even talk of "cheating" and putting on different fairings..and this guy is still the bigger man because no one will step up to him....Id say take it to the track and settle it....but it appears everyone who says they CAN beat him wont race him...

yea that civic would be really up S@#$ creek if he went there. in the summer i went there every monday. thas where all the 5 and 6 gen vettes and ACR vipers runnin 550 rwhp + use to chill at later on in the evening. assuming ur talking about the one at galaxy diner.

yeah thats the one.....i know for a fact that a guy there has a mid 8 second mustang...it was an 85 just like mine...and there is also a guy there...(owner of just desserts) has an 8 second camero. 8 seconds = 850 - 1100hp depending on the setup and weight of the car. also has anyone know roguevette? probably not unless you have been into drag cars....this guys he lives in vaughan or scarborough has an everyday driver vette that does mid 9's on street tires. check out his link http://www.roguevette.com/
