one, I am sure that your 10cm is an exaggeration.
second, riding downtown is a huge savings cost. my parking pass at Scotia Plaza was 260 a month, so riding was cheaper, its also faster because certain corridors allowed you to lane split with the parked cars (Bayview), or has an HOV lane (Eglinton)
thirdly, people just ride the bike they have, so you saw a few older supersports worth 5 g with chicken strips, big deal, its not like there is a RSV4 that obviously just goes straight.
I have 2 bikes, but not everyone has multiple bikes. Its unclear to me whether your point is that people should sell their bikes just go commute, or you are completely overlooking the fact that even riding a bike without leaning is more fun than driving a car ( and paying more ).
