Chicken strips among Toronto sport bikes

"Chicken strips" = riding for years to come and enjoying your bike safely, legally and responsibly.

No "chicken strips" = riding like an idiot, irresponsible, breaking speed limits, placing yourself and others in danger.

The only way to get rid of these meaningless strips while riding on our GTA roads is by breaking speed limits and riding dangerously.

In the end, the choice is yours really, personally I choose responsible and cautious riding which means I too have one inch chicken strips on my bike and am proud of that fact, considering I've been riding for 10 years and never crashed or went down (so far, knock on wood).

Road Warrior, or Road Worrier? Just teasing Max

lol these chicken strip threads make me laugh

do you peek over at the guy next to you at the urinal too, to make yourself feel better?

I disagree..you can get rid of them on on-ramps without exceeding the speed limit..and I can do it without riding dangerously..

Yeah, and anyone can do it with only 10 psi in their tires ... on their street ... even without leaving their driveway (if they know how to do a tight u-turn) ...

I'll be starting a new venture....bring your bike by and for $50 I'll get you that street credit you're after.

... and for FREE! :p (unless you don't have a pump and need to spend $1-2 at the local gas station for air, which apparently isn't free anymore)

I've got a little less than 1/2" chicken strips on the 919 right now, mostly from doing around 30 kph in circles in a parking lot. Maybe I should try 130 kph!

Or maybe we need more pics for PROOF.

Or maybe I need to get back to my rum and coke and the neighbours daughter in the pool.

Just walking around in the lunch break downtown Toronto, checking out the millions of parked bikes around the office. Can't help but notice how riders are using just the middle of their tires, it's like big *** meaty 10 cm chicken breasts on the sides, lol.... What's the matter, lack of good roads or what? I can't imagine going even turtle speed and retain such strips on the sides of the rear, how is it even possible?!

Nevermind the static pics. We need to see the dynamic stuff like you were posting before, Mr. 1000. Where's the parking lot action at? Did you dump the old camearwoman, I mean gf, waiting for the "new and improved" Ms. Hortons?!?!?!

I disagree with that. Ramps should be taken very cautiously, and slowly. Leaning too much into ramps is dangerous and stupid, ramps are not made for speed and leaning your bike like you are at a race track.
Ramps are dirty, have uneven pavement, holes, road snakes, etc. Many riders use ramps as playgrounds because they are pretty much the only curves in the GTA, and that's a very dumb thing to do, in my opinion.

Wanna break the chicken strips and have extra fun riding your bike, take it to the track. Anywhere else and it's bye bye license, bye bye bike or worst yet bye bye life.

I'll take the chicken strips thank you very much, better to be considered a "chicken" by a bunch of retards than become some morticians customer. :)

This thread is so pathetic. This is kinda why my street duc is for sale.

I find it really tough to get right to the edge, sometimes.

OP... if you go walking around at lunch to look at bikes.... remember that those bikes came in during rush hour... and crawled through grid lock at 15km/h for their straight highway trip... and they'll probably repeat that on the way home. if they dont have time for weekend spins, then thats all the riding the bikes get.

Marty McFly learned to share your sentiments by 2015. Looks like you're ahead of the curve.

The OP forget to mention that all the bikes he looked at were trikes.

Lol, temper temper... sorry if one of those bikes I saw today was yours, didn't mean to offend you, all I asked is how is it possible to preserve 10cm of unused rear on both sides of a sport bike. Do me a favor and solve the mystery for me and whoever else is interested, please.

Michael Sinosic would probably agree with you but John Pillar would probably not, at least not by 2016. But then again, Michael Connor probably doesnt really understand what you are saying but it's ok, it's still 2012 and it's understandable as the curve is steep.

If you are talking about the Temperance bikes... those guys dont' get much of a chance to lean ( i used to commute and park there ). But I guarantee you they have good clutch work and slow speed skills =D.

Yes, exactly, the bikes on Temperance, lol!

But I feel their pain---every time I decided to commute to there on my bike, I always regretted it! I love riding, wouldn't get off the bike if I didn't have my kids to spend my spare time with, and still---I would have hated bikes and riding if commuting to work was my only riding. Hence my wonder---if all they do is commute (clearly that's the case by looking at the strips), then poor people...they must be die-hard riders in fact. And then again, the question---why do they need sports bikes if they don't get to lean it EVEN ONCE in a corner?! Beats me..

one, I am sure that your 10cm is an exaggeration.

second, riding downtown is a huge savings cost. my parking pass at Scotia Plaza was 260 a month, so riding was cheaper, its also faster because certain corridors allowed you to lane split with the parked cars (Bayview), or has an HOV lane (Eglinton)

thirdly, people just ride the bike they have, so you saw a few older supersports worth 5 g with chicken strips, big deal, its not like there is a RSV4 that obviously just goes straight.

I have 2 bikes, but not everyone has multiple bikes. Its unclear to me whether your point is that people should sell their bikes just go commute, or you are completely overlooking the fact that even riding a bike without leaning is more fun than driving a car ( and paying more ).

Why do people buy Ferraris and Lambos, or restore classic cars when all they end up becoming are driveway or garage queens? Some people just love the look and feel of sport bikes.
