Bye Bye Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Dude WTF are you talking about, I don't need any ******* politician providing me with leadership, that being Rob Ford or anyone else.

They are there to make decisions in regards to issues that will affect our lives and the amount of money we put in our pockets, for that to me he is doing a good job, for everything else, I had parents that raised me already and I don't need "leadership" from anyone

I'll have to disagree with you there. Politicians keep things running. Crap politicians screw everyone over. Leaders improve the situation. Leaders make you want to help out by volunteering in a soup kitchen, feel good about your neighbourhood and keep it clean, and help out those in need. Or they organize everyone to build a death star and then go off to smoke Alderaan. Whatever.

When you have crap politicians, like Toronto has now, you have citizens who, by and large, start caring less about their city. They become disengaged. They don't give enough of a damn to go out and vote, because they see no way of improving things. Roughly half of the eligible voters bothered to come out for the last Toronto civic election.

Can you declare a state of emergency for the City? Can you craft by-laws and build consensus to get them passed? Can you give direction to the City and a plan for actually making this broken place function now and in the future? The mayor is a LEADER OF THE CITY. WTF do you think the job is suppose to be? Even in a weak mayor system he is still suppose to be a leader not someone with a room temperature IQ that could only build consensus in council to strip him of the majority of his powers.

I don't know what is more disconcerting; the fact that Ford Nation apologists are STILL justifying/rationalizing Robo Clown's behaviour, or the fact that there are still SO MANY OF YOU.

I apologize for the fact that my opinion is different that yours, I will make sure to check myself in place and never do it again.

I will also work really hard at trying to change all of your minds, since everyone in a forum always agrees with each other.

How sad it is that the politicians you guys support are so bad at their job that people prefer to continue to support someone that has smoked crack - Ask yourselves why? you would probably think it is because those of us are idiots, after all we all think everyone else is an idiot.

Don't bother dude. It's like trying to convince an asian that xbox is better than ps.

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

I might have been more supportive of him even with the crack issue if he...

1) Did not associate himself with street gangs
2) Took ownership of his screwups and worked on mitigating them instead of attacking those who pointed out his wrongdoings
3) Wasn't a lying sack of excrement
4) Wasn't physically abusive with people offering contrary opinions

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Does anyone really think this will blow over and Ford will come out on top?

This is a train wreck happening before our eyes, supporting Ford is simply delaying the inevitable conclusion.

PS, the video of Ford mowing down a councillor has 1.7 million views on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB1dJeMtb08&noredirect=1

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

So, my buddy was listening to the CBC interview last night and apparently Ford's claiming he's found Jesus now?

This ought to be good.

EDIT: Ah, it was the CBC interview and not the CNN interview.

"Rob Ford lies three times in first minutes of Peter Mansbridge interview"

Interesting commentary - http://o.canada.com/news/politics-a...-first-minutes-of-peter-mansbridge-interview/

Why did Peter Mansbridge not call the mayor out? Why do the press keep asking 'soft' questions?
Well, because the Ford brothers are the gravy train for the Canadian media... jackpot!

Do you think this is just about the crack admission? You are glossing over quite a laundry list of detestable things he has done - many of them a direct contradiction from the man he portrayed himself to be during the election. I believe a LOT of this would have gone away without the fiasco it has become had he not lied, attacked, and tried to manipulate his way out of every situation he has blundered himself into

Rob Ford is on fire on Youtube!
The video I posted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7Jy312JCUQ "DJ Steve Porter - Rob Ford Crack Remix " is at 1.1 million views in less than 2 weeks... and it's humor, it's not even news, commentary, or shocking

That article isn't entirely accurate for one, but ya Mansbridge went easy on him. I can think of a few reasons. One is that trying to nail him to the truth is never going to produce any results because he's so delusional about his flaws. The other is that he's great at playing the victim so any pointed question would just reinforce his belief that he's being persecuted. Another reason is that he had just suffered a few weeks of humiliation and defeat in front of the whole world, culminating in perhaps Canada's biggest ever power struggle. So there was no desire to pile on the misery.

But ya, Mansbridge could have done a better job in my non-professional opinion.

Seems that the Fords' show on Fox Nort.., ummm Sun TV has been cancelled after one show.

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Ya apparently it took them 5 hours to tape it and 8 hours to edit it. Too much cost.

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

It will be interesting to see what ends up coming down the pike with the Anthony Smith murder investigation.

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Serious question for ZX600 & co: Do you really, honestly think that there is literally not one person in the entire City of Toronto beside Ford who could hold a hard line on taxes and spending were they mayor?

I mean, I can at least understand people who say they don't trust government, that they want to shrink it, and they refuse to pay more taxes. I don't agree with it, but I can understand.

What I can't understand is the insistence that that sort of leader can only appear on earth in the form of Robert Ford.

While I agree with what you said, I think you're addressing a different point than ZX600.

The way I see it is that governments are leaders of their region (city, province, nation...), and people are the products of those regions. Conservatives expect (justifiably) a bit of a firewall between themselves and the leaders, in the form of the laws of the land. So government should never be a leader of the people, but a leader of their jurisdiction. The way skip described the role of a mayor as being a leader of a million people kind of breached that firewall, and I believe that was what prompted ZX600's reaction.

This is the problem of overzealous progressives; trying to grow their vision of the city so quickly that residents feel dragged along against their will, rather than the city expanding beneath them so they can grow within it. This provokes the only 'rational' reaction which is to elect a government that cripples itself with budget cuts so that it can't meddle as much in their lives. Getting a little bit of gold dust in their hands is also a nice incentive, but the problem here is that the golden sparkle distracts them from noticing that their city is crumbling underneath them.

Me, I preferred to be dragged along by the likes of Miller (within reason) than to allow the city to be neglected by another Ford, but my preference is in part because I shared the vision of the city that we were being dragged into. But Miller dig drag people, particularly with car restrictions like the VRT and Jarvis bike lanes. So there was bound to be at least a bit of backlash. Turns out there was enough of a backlash (plus all the other qualities that Ford possessed over the competition) that we ended up with this disaster.

All that to say YES, a strong leader is necessary but (s)he should be a leader of the city, not of the citizens.

They say it takes about $1.5 million to run for Mayor.
So you put up the money and I will run.
deal?

p.s. Are you looking at the parties leaders that "pick" their candidate to run against the others?
