How about this scenario: if Ford somehow manages to survive until the election and there's no other fiscally conservative candidate, who will Ford Nation vote for? They would still only have one choice, Ford. It's not like they're going to go full left and vote for someone like Sarah Thomson or Olivia Chow if they decide to run. Even Karen Stintz would have trouble pulling away votes from him.

Yep, that is what he is trying to do. That's the idea.

But I think he is doing it wrong, as in poor execution of the idea.

Also, he may be running out of time. It may be a matter of time before he gets arrested... the charge may be anything, for 'sexual assault' as an example (for grabbing Sarah Thomson's ***** ).

The best defense is a strong offence. He'll keep swinging all the way to the bottom. Its the football coach thing.

If he goes out it will effect his entire family business (where the money comes from). Not many smart guys will want to be associated in any fashion with the clan.

Anyone but Karen Stintz. She flip flops more than a beached seal and is only worried about her ego and her own political agenda to ascend as high up as possible. Put her beside Ford and Ford Nation will gladly elect him again, crack and all.

The city needs someone to step up who's fiscally conservative and doesn't do dope. How hard is it to find this person?

Don't forget some more requirements
-Doesn't hire criminals
-Doesn't drive drunk
-Doesn't use racist/homophobic language
-Doesn't use city resources for personal interests
-Isn't a proven liar

I'm sure there are a few more I'm forgetting but I agree really how hard is it to field candidates that aren't complete degenerates.

Tory said he would make his decision in the next few months and announce around February whether he'll make a run for office.

I love when people complain about a politician being a "Flip-flopper". "How dare people change their mind when they get more information or see they're not going to get what they wanted! Why those bums should fight every losing battle to the bitter end! Now that's real leadership!"

Reminds me how frustrating it was watching Miller spend five years stubbornly trying to shame the feds and province into giving us more money with no results, even going so far as spending good money on a failed ad campaign that did nothing for no one (the province gave us more tax powers, which is not the same as actually ponying up real dough). He dithered away most of his tenure fighting a fight he was never going to win. Yeah, hooray for stubbornness.

Me, I don't mind if someone changes their mind, so long as there's a good reason, so long as there are good results.

If we're going to talk Tory vs. Stinz, Tory seems like much more of a pushover to me than Stinz. Stinz is one of the few people who stood up to Ford, whereas John Tory abandoned the idea of running for mayor in 2010 after Ford's office boys left mean messages on Tory's answering machine. I know which of the two I think has more spine.

You want a person who is fiscally conservative and doesn't smoke dope. You described that exact person but then came up with a new reason to dismiss her out of hand. I guess I can't help ya.

Tory's press conferences would bore you to death, what with him repeating everything 12 ways, using slightly different words.

Ford's press conferences make you want to open your wrists in the presence of such abject hammerheadedness.

Keep an eye out for how councilors are voting and how their voting trends are changing. There have been a few that have all of a sudden switched to voting for things that benefit the provincial Liberals, once very left or very right all of a sudden vote for what the province wants. Best example are the ones that flip-flop on items that if passed would cost the province money (like subways). There have been some trending toward NDP and PC as well but the big one is Liberal.

Now wait until the next Provincial Election to see how many of them get cherry ridings to run in. Issue here are the ones flip-floping voting pattern to serve their next boss, selling out the people in their riding for their own potential gain.
