Why would anyone be stupid to pay that kind of a cash to get rid of a guy who is doing it himself, slowly but consistently. There's no way in today's day and age that the file will not surface up somewhere. This is crackheads who have it reportedly in possession, not some bank vault ......

I don't think that anybody with their senses intact needs a video file to make an opinion of the mayor.

Very true, but other than some comedy shows, the lefty mouth frothing and the temperance movement the public seems to be going meh, star-ford... The rest of the public seems to be pretty bored with the constant barrage of anti-ford over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and.... from the star they have little to no credibility anymore, and they have also lost all sock value.

Nothing here to force a resignation, just like all the last times. Drug dealers win the lottery, end of story. He will be in office until the next election. Most of this will be lost in the noise of The Stars vendetta come that election. The people that hate him already hate him, so this changes nothing. May swing some voters but the tax and spend crazies that will run against him may well swing them back.

Don't forget that this thread was started some time ago about some totally unrelated issue and it was about him being kicked out.... history repeats itself.

That's my observations as well.
The Liberals and NDP complain all day long but we are still paying for their mess e.g. Powerplant fiasco.
Ford just has to say that you are paying for their $300 million mistakes. The only thing they offer is debt.
They can hate me all day long but what exactly are they offering.

Not at all, none of this stuff with The Star has anything to do with his performance as mayor. It is all about The Star's petty hate for him. Maybe he did smoke crack, maybe he did not. I am not sure anyone other than those that already hated him care.

Sounds more to me like your petty hate for The Star. After all Gawker reported it first and all media outlets are picking up the story, so it's definitely newsworthy. Or are you saying they made it all up?

Ah Gaeezzuss H Christ, where do you guys think tabloid types like the Gawker get their tips from in the first place? News worthy, gawd dang I wonder if media like the Star even know what that is.

The media is playing smoke and mirror games with you and you’re all buying it. They started laying the ground work when Sarah Thompson claimed Ford grabbed her ***. She stated that she believed Ford had been smoking crack not just drinking too much. Now how the heck can she tell the difference between a person under the influence of booze and one on crack? Oh look, no charges were laid. Not even an internal investigation into his behaviour. Give me a break!

Rob Ford may be many things and is guilty of some misdeeds but, you have to wonder when the media try and convict him on nothing more then innuendo and unsubstantiated allegations.

Yes he’ll probably lose the next election and then lets see who the Star back and just how wonderful a job that person does.

How do you get that they made it up from "Maybe he did smoke crack, maybe he did not."?

Anyways, The Star has a track record of anti Ford reporting, remember how this all started, they claimed he hit one of his players during the mayoral election (hit the player back in 2001). The player in question confirmed he never actually hit him.... He wanted an apology, they said no, he said you are cut off. Then it goes on from there to KFC, to integrity commissioner this and that, to...... etc.

It is common BTW for other news agencies to pick up stories with little verification. How do you think twitter reports of celebrities dieing get propagated through all the agencies only to find out the person is still alive.

As I said, maybe he did, maybe he didn't. You have to give drug dealers 200K to find out.

BTW, Gawker also has an article about how Demi Moore's boyfriend has pearls in his dick...

True enough, both media could easily be viewed as having an agenda other than merely reporting a story, based on their track records. What threw me off was when you said "it is all about The Star's petty hate for him" which implied that you had already concluded that the story has nothing to do with the truth. But I can understand that anyone would remain doubtful of the accusation.

One thing I can't help wondering is; why haven't the Sun or National Post either been given a chance to view the video, or reported it if they did?

Let them get the hate Ford campaign going, maybe get them to pay the $200k only to see it was Ford and some actors yelling April fools...lol

That would be a cool idea and all of the free publicity you get while your opponents take the bait.

Sure, except for one little detail; story on page 1, retraction on page 14. You might be surprised how many people believe things that were ultimately proven to be untrue. Look at Fox in the US and how many times O'Reilly is told that something isn't true, then goes on to repeat it as fact later on.

Some other media outlets claim they were also given a chance but most have said they felt it was not ethical to be giving drug dealers 100's of Ks so they were not interested in viewing or buying (but of course have no issue regurgitating what the star is saying with the disclaimer we have not verified the video).

Also, I find it odd that you are all over Ford for an allegation of smoking crack but when it comes to Liberals they can do no wrong. See this thread:

Jon Stewart made a good point on "The Daily Show". Ford's lawyer never once claimed the video was fake or even denied it's existence. All he did was play the "you can't really be sure 100% what was being done in the video" angle.

Anti-Ford or Pro-Ford, why the silence?
