I never said that. But it really would have been.
What about the few consolers who where busted for dui? Placing citizens of TO in danger. Minor news in comparison to when ford was reading and driving.
Imo what's good for the goose is good for the gander. It's just never treated that way on any level.

You're being sarcastic but its the truth. Have you take a look at the Toronto Star? The last time I read it they were preaching how we're the least under taxed city in the world, yada yada. I slammed it shut & never read a Star again.
I hang up on telephone calls offering free subscriptions to the Sun. That's a comic book, not a newspaper. It's also Rob Ford's favourite. Stands to reason.
Its funny because its the same I feel about the Star

I agree with Torstar chairman John Honderich when he says the blatant attempt by the mayor to block the flow of public information to one newspaper cannot go unchallenged. The blackout on press releases and notifications of public events is a clear and blatant abuse of power.

Who was busted for DUI? As far as I can remember one counsellor was given a warn with no charges all the while Rob Ford is driving around drunk and drinking instead of working. You don't think reading paperwork while driving doesn't qualify as impaired driving? Stop trying to reason hypothetical made up situations that if any left leaning councillor was guilty of 1/10th of Fords actions they would get a walk.
The media aren't persecuting Rob Ford they are doing their job showing a complete scum bag human being for what he is.

If you honestly do not believe that the media weren't persecuting Rob Ford BEFORE the crack incident came to truth you are a very nieve person. As far as im concerned once the crack truth came out it was fair game.

Paul Ainslie didn't receive a DUI he received a warning. Which up until a few years ago was just a 24hr go home and get your car tomorrow charge. Pales in comparison with Ford's daily activities.
You do understand the reasons the media was after him right? He refused to hold proper press conferences like all past mayors had done or release details of his daily itinerary (we know why now) and would only pick select news organizations to release City hall news to (which he shouldn't do as its for ALL residents not just those of a particular political leaning). If you wrote something he didn't like he would throw a temper tantrum and bar your organization access to city hall information which is unacceptable. Rob Ford launched personal and professional attacks on journalists so the journalist decided to do some digging and we all know what they found and how true it was.
Public figures who behave badly are always fair game. That comes with the job. Most don't have a fraction of the skeletons in their closet that Ford does. Maybe ol Robbie boy shouldn't have poked the dog but thats how spoiled brats always act.
He refused the stars access to media conferences AFTER the star was consistently attacking him as no other political figure has been scrutinized.
Even during his election they brought up his drug charge in Florida like it was the end of the world. But yet its still ok for Trudeau.

Chasing Ford's family up to their cottage was a little ridiculous. Ford said that one Star reported was looking over his fence, which was investigated by police and turned out to be a lie.
Ford admitted to driving while impaired. When he was photographed reading while driving a police spokesman, I believe it was the Deputy Chief, covered for Ford by saying that it WAS NOT distracted driving to do so. He enabled the behaviour, that actually qualifies as operating a vehicle without due care and attention (ie. "careless driving"), under the Highway Traffic Act. Ford's charge in Florida was impaired operation of a vehicle.

I remember the police saying something along the lines of they would have to catch him red handed to issue a ticket. Photo evidence wouldn't suffice.
He was charged with impared as well as possession at the airport which the charges were dropped.
I am in no way defending his actions. There is no doubt he is a poor rep of the city. I am merely saying that he has been scrutinized far more then any political figure, some of which was by using shady investigative tactics.
Over the ford admin a once respectable news paper became no better then a British tabloid. Because of ford some of the more important political news was under the rug or at least pushed off the front page.
Even Wynn contributing to minors wasnt huge news.
On a side note id like to see counsel undergo sporadic drug tests. Coke is a hell of a drug.

Just to disprove two of your points with one stone, Adam Giambrone got crucified by the media for personal reasons and he was a lefty. And Rob Ford displayed his distaste for media scrutiny on that occasion, well before he ever decided to run for mayor.

I don't think there's a single human being on the planet left who hasn't admitted to smoking pot. You have to compare apples to apples.
He was convicted of impaired operation of a vehicle (actually refusing a breath sample, which is essentially the same thing), in Florida. He was convicted of the possession charge.

They brought up his rap sheet, his drunken abusive rant at the ACC, his charge of spousal abuse, all to illustrate the pattern that we clearly see today (which is directly relevant to his performance as mayor, or any job for that matter).
If only people had paid attention at the time, but here you are along with Ford Nation, STILL making excuses for his severely incapacitating faults and STILL blaming the media.
In a way I understand, because in order for you to acknowledge that Ford is a failure and a lout, you have to start questioning your whole world view and that's pretty hard for anyone to do after a certain age. But the evidence is that he is in fact a thug, an impetuous abuser, a man with one rule for others and one for himself. If you can't acknowledge any of that then what does that say about you?
