Bye Bye Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

I'd vote for him again. However, I'm not sure about the stupid part

Id rather they sit around and smoke crack all day than flush BILLIONS of our tax dollars down the toilet. Does the average person even know how many millions of dollars in a billion?

Id rather see a guy thats a complete mess in his personal life not waste and steal our money then liars such as the liberals who act all proper when on tv and interviews and as soon as the cameras leave they rob us blind.

Im with you on this one.

Personal life aside he still is the lowest cost mayor Toronto has had. And the ones running are just going to go back to the spending days.

Im afraid for the future of canada and the gta. My expectations of future elections.

Federal - Justin Trudeau
Provincial - Kathleen Winn
Toronto - Olivia Chow.

we will be in forever debt if my predictions are true.

Sure, he should get help, but that doesn't mean you have to think he makes a good mayor anyway. The two things aren't necessarily linked.

...

Do you want lowest cost? Fire Station 424 on Runnymede Road is now closed, and we are saving a fortune. Have you seen how much each firefighter earns? It is ridiculous we are paying them so much. If all you care about is lowest cost, then get rid of all the Fire Stations in Toronto.

And let's close all the libraries. And sell all the real state that the Toronto School Board owns. Hell, close all schools for good and call it a day.
Because that all we care 'bout, right? Lowest cost.

Seriously, if only it was that easy...

There is absolutely no accountability in politics. It's not Canada, it's like this everywhere.

We need a revolution!

Sacrifices had t be made during the recession. Now the economy is getting better we can move along

I said lowest cost, not saving money for tax payers. In other words his office budget was well below prior mayors or even other counselors. I may or may not agree with all of his stances but at least he's attempted to scale back on the overly inflated counsel budgets.

I dont like to get into political discussions so I usually try not to.

And people seem to forget the closure of the fire hall was voted in by counsel. The same counsel who could just spend less on their own crap and saved it.

Take a look at their budgets, what each spend and what they spend it on.

So just how much did the switch from LRT to subway save? Here's a hint; it cost something like $80 Million in losses from money spent toward the project alone, without counting cancellation fees for broken contracts. Whatever you think Ford has saved, you're wrong.

His office budget is so low because he pays it out of pocket, not because he's actually saving any money. It's patently unfair to compare the actions of a millionaire to those of people who actually have to spend the money that they make on costs of living.

Now compare the thousands that he saved, to the millions that he cost. His budget is higher than Miller's was. His "savings" are largely the difference between projected increases and actual increases. In other words he's saying that he's spending more but because it's not as much more than was expected, he's saving money.

Please read my second post.

Ive never said a word about saving tax payers money outside of counsels budgets.

And fords plan was refused in counsel. Stint had a sudden change of mind after fighting(and winning) for lrt and started planning subways. Ford and others lost the subway debate.

All I’m saying is that is not as easy as lowest cost. The City of Toronto is going to have a budget problem soon (1 - 2 years), and these are pretty complex issues.

Anyone could balance any budget by cutting down, or eliminating services. But then what? Are we just going to cross our fingers and hope there will be no more fires in Toronto?

Just saying... Ford didn't do any favors to the city.

This isn't exactly true. Toronto has been over spending for quite a while now, without actually doing upkeep on infrastructure. The policy has been to not replace anything; just wait until it breaks first. The roads, sewers, bridges, and water pipes are clearly demonstrating the problems with that model. Can you say "sinkhole"? Thoughcha could.

Taxes have been kept artificially low. Expenditures have been remarkably high, providing a level of service that few other GTA cities can boast. Eventually the credit card gets declined.

I'm all for "saving money," but my take on the term is centered around correcting inefficiencies.

People hear the term "saving money," and they automatically think it is a good thing. Stockpile as much money as possible! It's very good!

It costs a lot of money to run a city, you can't do it for free. "Saving money" can be a very bad thing. The city is, in some cases, literally crumbling to pieces thanks to "saving money."

Nobody is saying the city don't cost money to run but what I'd like to see is more efficiency. When the federal government literally ****** away billions like if its nobody's business, things like that makes you wonder WTF. Just because nobody's held accountable it should happen.

i don't think anyone would argue that there needs to be more accountability in public office....except those in public office.

What you call inefficiencies, they call exploitation in the normal world. If you did in the private sector what they do in the public sector. You would have been fired long ago.

Yes anyone can dispute Rob's claim of saving a billion dollars but you can't dispute he hasn't flushed away a billion dollars. That's what's keeping him in the race despite all his problems.
Actually he's flushed away $2.7 billion but Ford Nation probably isn't capable of absorbing that reality.

I remember the people against Rob was saying he should get help yada yada. He's getting help, now they're saying blah blah blah
It's a masquerade. He said he was getting help last time and all he did was hire a fitness coach (with a criminal background, natch)

Oh by the way, can I borrow $1000 from you? I'm good for it "guaranteed".

Again; he's wasted $2.7 billion. Don't worry, I'm probably a kook.

Oh, and he doesn't lie now too? Really? You want to go there?
