Buy Canadian (not American)-Buy this not that!

With tariffs possibly crashing our Car Manufacturing I think the most obvious step in this are is an absolute boycott to Tesla cars in Canada.
It's not about gay stickers and hate of Musk anymore, it's about thousands of Canadian jobs at risk here.
I hope the numbers for Teslas sold in Canada in 2025 is Zero..
Let's all buy Hondas and Toyotas assembled right here in Ontario.

so trump said if there are retaliatory tariffs he’ll crank up the US ones…

Market meltdown Monday?
He has said that the US doesn't need ANYTHING that we have. I think he is just crazy enough to outright ban everything Canadian

I would like this Tundra, please...

Toyota and Ducati have teamed up to produce a concept pickup truck for transporting the Desmosedici RR superbike.

The 2009 Tundra Ducati Desmosedici transporter is built on a Toyota Tundra CrewMax pickup, with the frame stretched to fit a 198.2 cm (6.5 ft) bed with some storage room for umbrella girls and other track necessities.

There are flip-up bed sides, a Rampage powered loading ramp, and something called "Italian flair." And of course it’s red.

"Toyota approached us for this project," said Michael Lock, Ducati North America boss. "It is a partnership that gives Ducati some visibility to an enthusiast crowd that we otherwise don’t normally reach."

And might as well throw in that Desmosedici RR too...

Let’s ask the smart guys on the forum.

Canadian inflation goes up 20% thanks to a 25% tariff…

What’s BoC gonna do? Crank rates to tame inflation? Or drop their pants to curb economic calamity? CERB 2.0?

Money printer go brrrr.

Maybe it was the right call for me NOT to buy a car this weekend…or maybe I just waited for a 20% bump in used car prices.

Can’t find the article I saw this morning basically saying ‘Canadian auto manufacturing will grind to a halt in 1 week if the tariffs come in’.

That's a @Brian P question.

I have somebody at Honda plant in Alliston and they all don't know much either, so many speculations what would happen and how fast it would progress. But many are afraid of job loses, that's one thing all afraid for sure...

Jeopardy Question: What major Ontario politician has a family interest in a labeling business that would make a bundle producing "Made in Canada" labels? :)

While I would love to believe that a prospective new HD buyer would consider an alternate choice, there will always be those die hards that need to attach to a brand. Blindly or otherwise.

Much as I make fun of the brand, the town I live in is quite small, and the motorcycle industry/community is even smaller.

So I know a lot of the people who work at the dealerships. If our local HD shop goes under, it's Canadians who will be out of a job, despite the fact that they work for an American company.

There's no winners in this very sad situation. :(

The problem isn’t as simple as buying Canadian / European goods instead of American.

The problem is that once American goods are slapped with a 25% tariff everything else will crank up to match or just beat that there won’t be much difference in between them.

We’ve seen it time and again. Prices don’t stay low if they don’t have to.

If you have 2 competitors and competitor A is forced to be 25% more expensive, why shouldn’t competitor B not crank up their price 20%? They’re still 5% cheaper, but now making an extra 20% on each unit.

Inflation was under control. We’re in for a wicked ride if this starts on Tuesday.
A warm fuzzy story from my high school years and a lesson in loyalty

At lunch we would go and buy a ten cent bag of popcorn from Gus, the popcorn vendor with his pushcart in front of the school. He had been there forever, rain or shine.

One day a different guy showed up with his cart, parking across the street from Gus and selling his popcorn for the same price. We kept buying from Gus. After a couple of days, the new guy dropped his price to a nickel. Gus kept his at ten cents and we still bought from him, ignoring the newcomer.

The next day the new guy wasn't there and Gus, for the day, dropped his price to a nickel.

You're not wrong and the facts are not lost on me. Manufacturing, which I am a part of, is going to be in a world of hurt.

There was a reason you posted this thread though, no? HD and the Canadian employees working in the brand are not immune. No more than I am.

Which Prime Minister is good for the U.S?

Ben Shapiro endorses Pierrie Poilievre
Ben Shapiro only cares about Poilevre supporting U.S. foreign policies

Our own Jordan Peterson endorsing Poilievre

Jordan Peterson works for the Daily Wire which is owned by Ben Shapiro
Ben Shapiro is also one of the biggest wankers I've ever listened to. ( Or is it Jordan Peterson... maybe a tie)

Point taken.

The global economy is so entwined. Just pin-pointing which country the profits ultimately flow into ignores all of the other companies and their staff along the supply chain who are employed all over the world who help design, build, ship and sell that "American" product.

Nothing would get Trumps attention more than seeing the likely next PM standing shoulder to shoulder with the current PM, putting politics aside, responding forcefully saying that we're not going to back down and we will do things that will have real effect on the USA's economy. Because right now, I suspect Trump seems to think that once Poilievre takes over, he'll get everything he wants because Poilievre will be his conservative populist buddy.
All branches and all levels need to show a united front and put partisanship aside.

And this happens on so many products. I am in an industry where the manufacturers are relying on supply from a vast number of nations. Most of these so we can feed US consumerism.
