blackberry 10

I got a notification sticker from UPS on my front door.

Wonder what that could be ...

The WIRELESSWAVE Group in Canada commented that the newly released BlackBerry Z10 was the leading smartphone sold within its stores since the February 5th launch by BlackBerry.

"We are delighted with strong customer acceptance and customer experience within our stores of the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone," stated David Hartman, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of WIRELESSWAVE Group, GLENTEL Inc.

"We are thrilled with the launch success of the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone in Canada," stated Andrew MacLeod, Managing Director of Canada at BlackBerry. "In fact, it was more than 50% better than any other launch day in our history in Canada. GLENTEL has been a strong partner of BlackBerry and the success of the BlackBerry Z10 in their Canadian retail locations is exceptional."

To be expected for the "must have newest shiny thing" people. The Nexus 4 has been out for a bit now, the blackberry is the new kid on the block for the moment. When the next big hyped device comes out there'll be demand for that. If demand is sustained and takes away from the other devices in large amounts then it'll be a big success.

All of these newfangled touchscreen telephones look identical ...

Anyway, I have the new gizmo and started playing around with it but considering that I am moving up from the stone age, I have a learning curve ahead. It was pretty easy to get it set up on my wireless internet at home and pretty easy to start browsing and there was a Facebook app already built in, which I've played with a little. Activating the telephone required a phone call to Rogers ... seems it doesn't want to activate if the old cell phone that already has that phone number is still turned on :) good to go now. But I'm typing this from my laptop because as of right now, I can type an awful lot faster on a traditional keyboard and I can see a lot more on the screen. First impressions of the Z10 are pretty good.

It will require geek help to get it connected to email. I'm not even going to try. There's some passwords involved that I normally never use, which might be a problem ...

March 14th launch. "New shiney thing" window is just over a month for bb.

Talk of 12mp cam, quad processor, 64 to 128gb (expandable) storage and wireless charging. Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery (compared to the partly 1800mAh Z10 Battery), Super AMOLED 1080p Gorrilla Glass 2 Screen....a nice feature of that is...no finger print magnet!!!! The screen is always so fresh and clean!!! The PB and Z10 are grease horders sheesh!

.

And by March, BB will be releasing another "new shiney thing" that will appeal to the rest of the masses who are chomping at the bit.....

Advanced OS, and no silly home buttons like the others have. :)

Wait, maybe I misread that....their key demographic who loves buttons, doesn't want a home BUTTON?!?!

What exactly is the downside of a home button again? I fail to see the advantage of not having a home button. Is it the increased screen realestate the Z10 DOESN'T take advantage of?

Personally one of the things I hated about the PB was that it didn't have a home button, and any attempt to put it in my pocket or clean the screen activated the damn thing! So.....I wished I had a home button on that thing. That being said, at least the z10 is activated with a full screen swipe rather than any touching of it. Either way, full screen swipe or home button, its no big diff, but a huge improvement on the PB's hot mess of an activation method.

"Advanced OS", as in caught up to its contemporaries "advanced"? It is certainly nothing ahead of Jellybean!

PS, where is BB's stock again? $13.48 and on a steady tumble since bb10's release!!!

What exactly are we waiting for now to resurrect this company? Q1 or Q2 sales figures?

Lol..I like the home button. I can be sure, no matter how many menus deep I am in something that the home button will take me to a defined, constant area quickly.

The only thing I want with my Nexus S is expandeable memory. Everything else on it is perfect. The "peek" thing on the blackberry 10 looks bloody annoying, I like the notification bar on the top of my phone.

Wait a minute....You're looking at RIM stock after only 3 weeks of release? And not fully released in major markets in US and other countries yet?

:laughing3:

FYI......RIM stock rose 138% in the last 6 months.

Jellybean? when we see Jellybean in rocket ships, hospital programs, nuclear reactor, and medical machines and other functions where a true RTOS is required, and when Jellybean can boast these customers ( Acura, AdTran, AECL, Audi, BMW, BTI Photonics, Caterpillar, Chrysler, Ciena, Cisco Systems, Daewoo, DragonWave, Emerson Process Management, Fortna, General Electric, GM (On-Star is based on QNX so you know how QNX works with internet/intranet connecitivty in the mobile space!) Hyundai, Infinera, Intalysis, JDSU WaveReady, Kieback & Peter, Land Rover, Novar/Honeywell, Porsche, Precitech, Renault, Samsung, Saab, Tridium, and the US Postal Service) and I won't even go into Military applications................ then we can talk about Android Jellybean being advanced.

QNX isn't an OS.

The rest of the masses? All 99% of them are going to jump on the reCurve?

It has about as much appeal as a Civic.

That's what the Samsung Note III is for anyway. Just the thought of the S4 has made the Z10 all but forgotten in weeks and who would buy a Q10 with the Note III coming out right on top of it? Strategically delayed to follow the release of the S4 by about two weeks I bet.

Q2 Samsung. By knockout.

Q3 will be iPhone 5S.

Is BB working on something for the Christmas quarter? Are they going to still be around by Christmas?

Seems like they blew their load already and really need to get something to market soon.

That's QNX....not BB. BB couldn't shoehorn QNX into a phone in under 2 years! The only thing carrying BB is a division they bought and did not actually generate! Even still QNX is meh!
