blackberry 10

1 out of 6 is is a pretty high failure rate... 17%. You would think after 2 years they would be a little more reliable.

lol because 6 is an accurate sample size.. i'm that that directly translates to one out of every 6 produced and your 17% failure rate..

my bad.. LOL *rolles eyes*

I wast implying that the evidence in this thread is enough to prove they are good either, just that it isn't enough to prove they aren't. A sample size of 6 isn't enough to prove anything.. My point was that when you are aware of 1 unit failing.. oh and he said there were a few reports of units failing online.. let's call that 10. And them let's multiply that by another 10 because not everybody will report it.. even at 100 out an estimated 250 thousand sold.. is not an indication of a significant failure rate at this point.

Hold the phone! Is it true that the new Z10 and BB10 do not sync with Outlook?!?! There is some sort of work around to sync the calendar but it no longer syncs like it used to?

Can anyone shed light on this? Surely this can't be true.

Can anyone confirm that enterprise fully syncs Email, Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks with Outlook?

My iPhone doesn't syncs Notes, I need OneNote to do that. Are you sure they're refering to the right Outlook?

only an issue for people that still sync their phones via USB.
Enterprise (BES) syncs fully as before.

The confusion comes from the software that replaced Desktop Manager (Called Link), and now doesn't offer the same functionality.

Correct.. USB sync is a dinosaur.. why would anyone want to plug in and sync once a day anymore when there are dozens of free cloud services that will sync instantly and continuously...

Love it or hate it, there are users out there that still use it for whatever reason.

The thing is, BB never said they did or did not support this feature anymore. So the average Joe consumer that just has a PC and mobile device, just wants it to work. When it doesn't they go on a tear.

There's already a 3rd party solution that will enable this feature as it was before and allow updating over localized WiFi.

No argument there.. but I think it's an education piece with those users who are still syncing locally.. they likely aren't aware that whatever provider their PC version of outlook is downloading content from in the first place likely supports calDAV or EAS, and once shown the light will enjoy the new way MUCH better.. in the off chance that there is a specific reason not to sync wirelessly for a very small subset of users, then as you said.. 3rd party solutions are available.

I'm not 100% on this, but I don't believe iphone or android sync via USB natively either do they? People get upity about little things BB10 doesn't do that their 10 year old platform did.. it's a new platform and a new world.. there's just better ways to accomplish those tasks now..

Last year iphone users were telling me RIM's major downfall was the reliance on BIS.. why doesn't it support active sync like everyone else.. now they've switched to active sync and those same people are posting OMG it doesn't have push BIS! LOL

The fact of the matter is, it's a new platform, built for the new way of doing things.. and as such it does some things differently then the old platform which will always lead to growing pains for some.. but in the end it does still do all the things that are needed, arguably in a better way for MOST users.

Because iphones never fail right?

My buddy at telus just told me they have 17,000 used, refurbished, reconditioned iphone5s they are trying to unload through a new $0 telus promo.

17,000 from one carrier in canada

:laughing3:

As much as iphones aren't for me, they are a quality product in that sense. 17,000 out of millions sold is not a high count either.. electronics come off an assembly line and it's not possible to test every unit, so there is always a defect rate. It's just funny how there could be an exact defect % of iphones as their is BB10's and people will talk about the BB10's and never say a word that iphones and every other product has a comparable rate.

Today, it's 10,000 BB phones / customers..............shouldn't make a dent(?)

Home Depot started replacing some 10,000 BlackBerry smartphones used by store managers and corporate employees with iPhones, Apple Insider reported.

p.s. I still don't have a dog in this fight.

You win some you lose some, Gary. BB is still deployed by 80-90% of Fortune 500 companies

Its also been said that 40% of Z10 sales were to the Apple/Android ppl.

Last Sept when I went to my Telus rep, to renew our company phone contract he was sporting an iphone. When I told him, I'd be upgrading to BB10 when it comes out he looked at me like I had 2 heads and was insane.

FF, and went to reserve a Z10 today for the wife (they're sold out), he's now rockin a Z10 and can't stop telling me how great it is.

:laughing3:

I have the Z10 and I have been an loyal blackberry fan for a quite a few years now. I only bough this phone to play with until the Q10 comes out.

Its an ok phone. There is definately a learning curve for those coming from standard bb's. I don't like the way bb stripped a lot of the basic/standard functionality out of the phone.
Hopefully they will address it in a software release.

My condolances.
I'm actually beginning to start feeling sorry for y'all.
It's just a phone, ffs & lol.
Although I was pumped, I don't remember getting that excited when I got my 1st car, as a kid - half a century ago when we were rock'n rotary phones, and getting by just fine.

p.s. It's not getting any brighter in here. ;)

Here's my Z10 update,

went to Telus commercial with my locking keyboard, was news to them. They offered me a loaner BB curve, since my Z10 was a gift from BB and not Telus issued they couldn't even send it out for repairs, they dont touch non-telus phones ( mine was unlocked).
They had no inventory of Z10 or curves or bold. loaner was as good as they could do.

I drive to Future shop burlington where they have 30 Z10 telus units on the shelf. They cannot sell me a phone. They can only sell me a Z10 with a contract upgrade or extention. I'm on a corporate plan and say I'm a telus user, I will pay for a new phone, dont F'in care. Nope cant sell it incase I go online and sell it to Dubai for large dollars.

but he takes my Z10 and plays with it and downloads the software update. The keyboard starts working. I thank the dimple headed phone guy and head back to Telus commercial to reactivate my Z10 onto the program and give back the loaner BB they handed me. They said gee thats neat its working, we are recommending to our accts they dont become early adopters and let all the updates get done and buy into the system in 6 mths.

I mentioned since your on allocation and cant get Z1o phones you say your customers are insisting on, other Telus stores (future shop) have a 30pc pile of them 15 mins away from where we are standing.
Telus lady says thats the beauty of commissioned sales reps, if it makes them no money you get no help.

I find it disappointing that RIM had years to see what works best with the other brands products and to sort out the software yet they kinda failed. They should have come out with a product that just does it all. Take from the others and make yours the best. Instead you are now being told to wait for the upgrade. Upgrade! The phone was just released even after delays.

That is not leadership or a formula for future success.
The other companies will slowly cut into RIMS corporate rates.
Samsung is taken aim.
