Best dual sport or something along those lines?

There are so many hot supermotos showing up on Kijiji - theres an 09 Aprillia, an 08 Husq, what looks like a sweet DRZ, an 05 Husq 510, ....

I thought that I saw a 2stroke blue plated KTM 350 (?) on there somewhere too. That thing would be a beast!

Good thing that this is not August because Id be trading my WR on anyone of the above!

That 08 husq looks like a boss!!

So what dirt bike did you get on trade?

I just found out a guy at work is selling a 1986 XL600R -- I might be able to pick it up for around $1200 to $1500.

Sure it is old and therefore has outdated drum rear brakes, crappier suspension, etc, but a dead simple dirt bike (air cooled, kick start) I might just go for it. At least I know I could beat it up all I want and probably still get the same money for it 5 years later.

Just waiting for a few things, but IF it happens it is a 2009 YZ250

an interesting first dirtbike.

I have ridden before and not to toot my own horn, when I went dirt biking it was with trail tours and we had 2 guys, the one guy took me on the single track and asked how long I have been doing it for? That was my first time ever. He could not believe it as I was very advanced and especially single track... I will be fine! lol

The yz250 has the hp and torque of a 4-stroke 650cc. That's a pretty powerful bike, know your ability.

And the YZ will be WAAAAY more fun.

Fun factor is huge alright. I had a cr250 and on paper it was very similar to my te450 (in terms of hp - both just shy of 50) but the power delivery was completely different.... unless you play with the stock flywheel, 2t powerband is like a lightswitch (not quite as bad as the 125, but 250 is still similar). One second you're bogging the engine, next second your front wheel is in the air!!!

I absolutely loved my Cr250 in the single track in the Ganaraska.

Reliable, cheap and slow pretty much describes every bike in this segment. But you forgot overweight with a mushy suspension. ;)

Ok thats what i thought... havent heard much about it so figured it was not that good. Like i said, I am back on the supermoto deal as the RC is gone, but Im not buying new. I keep going back to the wr250x as I love that it has injection and kind of do like that it is only a 250 for when i do hit the trails, but they are still over priced.

She'll be a handful power wise in the singletrack. But that doesn't seem to be what you are after.

true.. and for the times i decide to im sure I could handle a day or two. Also, I was reading the pavement tears these ktms up
