Best dual sport or something along those lines?

yeah yeah- I'vebeen in email contact with the CDN distributor for a while. He can never seem to produce a sample bike when he says he will.

Sounds to me like he explored the possibility of dual-sport. Decided that with commuting to work etc, a dedicated street bike and a dedicated dirt bike works better for him. The time everyone took to answer questions etc, helped him to make this choice, it wasn't like he wasted anyone's time...

You nailed it! I was never planning on ever giving up my commute on a bike, so thats why I considered a DRZ... then based on what people were saying, it wouldnt be great as a dirtbike. Sooooo, I got a deal on the RC which left me cash left over for a dedicated dirt bike as well, so thats what i am doing.

Things may change again, who knows. I may not even keep the RC, not sure if I will like it but I do love the sound, but the commuting seems to suck on these but we shall see. If I didnt keep it, I would still but another ss though and a dedicated dirt bike.

Depends on what you want to be honest. I had the same debate, I plan to go with a WR250R bu.

If buying new consider either the DRZ-400S $8,250 / SM $8,800 or the WR250R about $7,800 [after taxes resp.]

Both are great choices and If buying used, you will struggle to find a WR250R for sale let alone for anything that isn't close to retail price in this province. I've been told that searching for one in Quebec yields better results. Personally, its too much effort for me to do that but if you're interested "damnbiker" went that route. DR-Z400S pop up every one and a while on Kijiji for $3,500-5k but don't last long, so I'd suggest that for a used bike.

Both are very reliability and you get a fairly long interval between general maintenance (Yamaha a bit longer without maintenance).

CCM 450 GP. It's my new crush.

I was really liking the new Husky Terra and STrada 650 singles, but couldn't justify their 400+ lb weight when my 100 hp KTM 950 twin weighs the same but has twice the performance.....then when I stumbled onto this CCM, I was immediately smitten.
40 hp, and only 285 lbs......that's 50 lbs less than a Ninja 250!! But it aint cheap.

I too was in love, but she's way out of my price league @ $12,000 msrp

Also this thread has been the biggest let down I've ever read in all the years I've been posting.

well ya I only paid 2600 so I figure why not make a couple bucks and out it towards something more my style... do not like the seating position on it. I got it sold Thursday anyways... I am gonna take the as down soon.

At $3700, that rc was still well priced. There isn't a rider on here that wouldn't take advantage of a good deal to make extra cash. There are two really nice 08 wr250 on quebec kijiji, prices ain't bad.

Thats what I figure... I could ask alot more but im not. Its priced super fair even despite what I paid. If it doesnt sell then I would ride it, not too worried but like I said I think it will be sold this week. As for the WR I am going to check that right now. thanks!

I was hoping to see it in person but couldn't make the show. The seat height is like my KTM which is to say, too high for me...but it weighs 50 lbs less than a Ninja 250, so that may negate it. And apparently there is a low seat option too. If you look at the price, and think about all the parts you would eventually add to a BMW or Husky single to make it this cool, th eprice isn't too bad....except that you need to pay it all up front. And I look at other bikes that I could buy for that coin, however, this bike is far and away the single lightest adventure bike $ can buy. And that is what I like about it...and the PAris/Dakar styling of course. When BMW came out with this motor in a dualsport I loved it, but it was maintainace intensive but it had 30% more power as well...hopefully , detuning it will make it less service intenstive. I am hoping there are some nice used ones around in a couple yrs.

I went and sat on brand new WR's and DRZ's at the bike show this weekend.

The WR has totally bouncy MX feeling suspension, and was super high and almost hard to get on! My buddy with me could not even get on the thing, lol. The DRZ was on sale for $7000 but I honestly feel like the WR is going to be way more off road capable.

The DRZ feels like it definitely has it's place in the world, but sitting next to my current gen R6 is not one of them. If I didn't have a road bike or I was going to maintain a 1 bike garage, I might go with the DRZ... but right now, even at the exact same price of 7 grand, I would take the WR.

I also sat on the KTM EXC 500, which felt awesome but I can tell it is a super beast.

Living in rural northern ontario, I could get some real use out of that ccm. Barrie north through Oro, east towards gooderham, north towards Algonquin, Park to Park Trail to Parry Sound/Killbear, south towards Barrie. Good weekend. I better start saving my pennies... Lol

Ok so you guys can be happy again... I made a trade for the RC and its not another sportbike lol. Its a dirtbike!!! yaaaaaay! Continue thread! lol

There are so many hot supermotos showing up on Kijiji - theres an 09 Aprillia, an 08 Husq, what looks like a sweet DRZ, an 05 Husq 510, ....

I thought that I saw a 2stroke blue plated KTM 350 (?) on there somewhere too. That thing would be a beast!

Good thing that this is not August because Id be trading my WR on anyone of the above!
