Backlash for comments

Like one of the females here posted in another thread, although bullying was a huge factor her inability to deal with stress and depression or possibly the drugs she was one led to the suicide as well. People reached out and tried to help a month ago after she posted the video but it didn't help.

Have You ever seen someone with depression?? The mind takes over and plays Games with your head, i watched a friend Crash hard Go from Top of the world to rock bottom ....almost took a full year for the person to finally snap out of it.....scary stuff it was..

Just read what you wrote and you will see the parallels between an e-thug who hides behind a keyboard and the busy body lady on the internet.

Yes, there is a parallel.
In fact, someone may now react against this woman for ratting him out. I never said she was beyond reproach. My point is that we all have to answer for the crap that comes out of our mouths, the stuff we type on the internet, and our actions in public. There is no difference.

LOL...that reminds be of interracial dating. When a colored man dates a pretty white girl, everybody stares. When a colored man dates a fat or not so pretty white girl. Nobody gives a ****.

One dead white female teenager and the world loses their collective minds.

Not true, I gave him major props for taking one for the team...

Im not going to quote people posts for every single issue, but for those that feel the person deserved what he got, let me ask you this,

what if the comment he made was on some other type of forum, other than facebook. Lets use GTAM as an example. I highly doubt that anyone on GTAM lists their proffesion and where they work on their profile, but that doest mean that information cant be found. this issue goes far beyond the issue of free speech, its more like free thought.

with halloween coming up, i assume that many people on here will take pictures of their costumes, and i can bet that there many people out there that wear offensive/bad taste costumes. A popular one is a pregnant nun, or a Nazi, KKK... etc..

so you post your costume on GTAM and someone freaks out and gets very angry and decides to find out who you are. with some googling detective work, they find out who they are and where you work and so on. next thing you know, someone you work with gets offended as well, and you lose your job.

thats fair ? whats if its not a costume, but a religious choice ? musical choice ? what if your gay ? pick a topic, and someone will probably be offended by it

doesnt sound fair to me

I did not read the article, but I think i get the jist of it, some guy posts something on his social media site that someone finds contentious, emoployer is notified, said person is fired.

on the surface this is wrong, there is a matter of personal privacy, freedom of speach etc... This can however become clouded, what if the said person worked for an organization for child welfare? Should a convicted drunk driver be employable by MADD?

IMO, no freedom of speech was violated here. Freedom of speech does not mean immunity of consequences from said speech.

I liked it better when the internet was an unregulated, wild-west like environment. Where you could pretty much do and say whatever the hell you wanted because nobody took it seriously enough to give a crap.

Now everybody and their sister is lurking online. Back in the old days, if some overly sensitive idiot accused you of saying something that offended them, all they had was your word against theirs...for the most part. Now that everybody's typing their nonsense into text format, the evidence is there...and it'll be there forever.

Being an opinionated ******* isn't worth the trouble anymore. I say keep your crap to yourself, or make a hilarious meme about it. Something involving cats or philosophical dinosaurs, preferably.

Facebook and social media are for people looking for attention.
It is for the most part to show off by saying look at meeeeee
I have 2000 friends and you don't so I am a winner and you are a loser.
Look at my nice house and perfect family.
Look at my cool toys i.e. cars/bikes/sleds/animals

Facebook has given everyone their permanent 15 minutes of fame and once in a while someone will get 20 minutes.
It boggles my mind why people feel this urge to have verbal diarrhea and post just about every detail about their life.
We have been programmed to just do what feels good irrespective of thought and consequences.

Whatever did happen to the whole Koney thing?

Not so (bolded). No one can expect privacy from Facebook when you post public comments. It is, after all a "social media".

Besides, he exercised his right to free speech, no one shut him down. Let's not confuse freedom of speech and impunity.

As for your question about MADD, personally, I think this would only make sense.

And for the GTAM example (from a different post)... You are free to say what you want, but you can still expect ban and infractions if you go too far.

Not my words in the pic, just saying that people pick and choose on how they would have helped all without every getting out from behind the keyboard.

Remember Kony anyone...... What happened there, everyone was on board and the only thing that happened was the founder of it got rich and decided to masterbate on the side of the street...

Lol
And the plot thickens. Any articles to back up the claim that she masturbated on cam, did it multiple times for different people, etc.? Wouldn't surprise me if it was true but I'd like to see some proof.
Watch out Jamie this guy gonna take your crown

Every day we censor ourselves. We censor ourselves to keep our jobs, to get along with neighbours, even to get along with friends and family. That's because our words affect other people. That extends to the people you speak with on the internet. In some cases it's not fair. But in this case, a jackazz learned that being mean on Facebook for stupid thrills can certainly affect people.

Yes, he got what he deserved.

CANADIAN CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS

Being Part I of the Constitution Act, 1982 [Enacted by the Canada Act 1982 [U.K.] c.11; proclaimed in force April 17, 1982. Amended by the Constitution Amendment Proclamation, 1983, SI/84-102, effective June 21, 1984. Amended by the Constitution Amendment, 1993 [New Brunswick], SI/93-54, Can. Gaz. Part II, April 7, 1993, effective March 12, 1993.]
Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:

Guarantee of Rights and Freedoms

RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS IN CANADA. 1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.

Fundamental Freedoms

FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS. 2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
(a) freedom of conscience and religion;
(b)
freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

you can express your opinions on the internet, and not be persecuted for them.

There is a difference from opinion and slander though.
"I think joe is a dick" v.s. "joe is a dick"

kodos to the probable b¡tch with nothing better to do, for making this guy's opinions public.

He shouldn't have been fired if he stated his opinion, and he should sue for wrongful dismissal and have his boss charged with violating the charter of rights and freedoms act.
or
He should have been fired for slandering.

The Charter doesn't apply to interactions between private citizens unless they are somehow agents of the state ( generally speaking )

Further, you can dismiss without cause provided proper severance is paid.

Whatever your opinion, based on the facts as reported thus far, the law has little to say on this matter, if anything.

...

The difference is that back then, the internet was a toy, a novelty, s**+ and giggles, LoLz and that was it.

Today, the internet is the biggest force behind social change in industrialized countries. The internet is not a game anymore, it gots real.

so what do yo mean... anything goes between two people?
- never mind read your edit

Is it too late to scrap the internet?

1) She didn't make it public: He did by posting it on FB.

2) People get fired for stating their opinion all the time. They don't get persecuted/prosecuted. With the exception of the HRT, but that's an anomaly.

Im just going to use this as an example, and we'll see how it goes, ok ?

I did a quick search, and found this..

McGuinty was a lying SOB.
Weeks after his first election win he hits us with a healthcare tax after promising no new taxes.
Then we learn of the hundreds of millions in tax dollars lost to Orange and eHealth.
Then we have hundreds of millions of tax dollars lost in the cancellation of two power plants.
And now teachers and other public servants are taking it in the *** because of poor governance.

McGuinty can rot!

for arguments sake, lets say i disagree with you. I do a a few google searches, and find out your real name. then i find you on fb, or some other media site. it lists where you work, i contact them, and tell them your politcal views, to which they strongly disagree with. next thing, you get fired for something.

thats fair ? remember, dont say apples and oranges here, the principal is the same. now think if someone did an actual hardcore search on you, and your habits on the internet. what you watch , what you read....etc should your work be told all of this ?
