Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Doesn't water ignite the batteries?
Cybertruck has wade mode that closes some stuff off to minimize water intrusion.

Batteries are immersed in coolant. It should be really hard to get external water near a cell yet alone in a cell.

If you cut open and unroll a cell, there are quite a few ways you can get the film to light. That's why crashes and minor external pack damage are treated so carefully. You can't confirm that cells haven't been compromised.

On the other hand, possibly towed..

I don't see what the problem is. Keep some BBQ sauce in the console and you're good to go.

I had that happen to a Sous Vide heater with all the bells and windows. It lost power during a reset and fried itself.

As a side note the neighbor was pricing hydrogen heavy trucks for his company and the fuel tanks are $100K. On the road trucks are double what it would cost for diesel. Of course that would get built into the delivery costs.

We're going to get carbon neutered.

One step forward....two steps back...

Jennifer French is funnier than she realizes. "and it is something the NDP will put in place if they govern following the 2026 election,". There is no world where ndp is winning the next election.

" French argued that adding the infrastructure from the get-go is actually the more affordable solution." So adding $1000 to the cost of every new dwelling is more affordable than the few percent that charge at home adding circuits?

"The costs of upgrading a home to allow for electric vehicle charging can be as much as $3,000 to $5,000." Complete BS. No new home would need a service upgrade for EV charging. How about we add in cost comparisons of EV charging in a knob and tube house too as justification to add circuits in new builds?

"Kamloops has taken a lead. The B.C. city passed a bylaw that mandates EV charging requirements in all new residential developments and as of last year under municipal law all new residential buildings have to have Level 2 EV charging infrastructure for at least one parking space per unit. It is the type of bold, forward looking leadership French wants to see inside Queen’s Park." What a moron. You want to make affordable housing unaffordable quickly, install enough electrical for a few hundred concurrent level two chargers.

Completely delusional as I would expect from NDP. Infinite money for all hairbrained schemes. It would be an order of magnitude cheaper to provide a $1000 rebate for anyone that installed a charger and let them roll out organically and actually targeted at locations charging EV's. Maybe require one level 2 charger for every 50 dwellings in a building. Most condo dwellers don't have a driving pattern that requires frequent level 2 chargers.

As has been shown by GTAM members with BEV's, level 2 may be nice to have but for the vast majority of people that are well served by a BEV, level 2 is not required.

As for the timing of this article, it is quite poorly written but it looks like douggie made the changes she is mad about almost six years ago. She is just stomping her feet and trying to be relevant (poorly imo).

Not surprising. Their EVs are stupid expensive and stock is high. I should go look into one.

The article states it best. Their other plants can’t keep up with demand for the F series…so why focus on slow selling models while they can make a lot more on the F series.

Everyone knows the govt will fold like a cheap laptop when it comes to their mandate of ‘all new cars and trucks need to be EV by (insert stupid date here)’.

Especially when a politician with half a brain is in charge. The first few years will just be unwinding stupid hairbrained ideas that drive up prices and have zero chance at succeeding anyway (eg ethanol ready, PZEV, etc were just greenwashing wanks that never amounted to anything other than increased costs).

Every time I mention EV trucks to my neighbour (Fleet manager) he shakes his head. Hertz isn't the only company to drink the Koolaid battery fluid.

Stellantis just told people to park their Chrysler minivans EV's outdoors.

Should the ICE crowd park at least five spaces away from them in parking lots?

My neighbour just got his Hybrid Maverick back after two weeks with electrical problems. Fortunately under warranty.

They had totally gut the interior to get at the battery.
