Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Well first commute to Scarborough done with the Volt...not bad at only 1.9L used for the 108km trip.

Car drives fairly well, quiet, a bit louder when the motor kicked in but it’s probably because I’m not used to it.

Seats aren’t overly comfortable but overall it was a good experience.

Once the temps get into the 20's you'll probably be able to do it entirely on battery. IIRC my BIL was getting north of 115 or so in the summer on his Gen2.

Clearly the solution is to throw out this entire electric car nonsense and go 100% all in on Hydrogen, accordingly.

I forgot all about the heater so had that cranked in the morning when I left. Plus there’s no traffic in the morning at the time I left so 110-125kph the majority of the drive.

Dealer is ripping the window tint off tomorrow morning and are installing new tint....we shall see how it looks.

Photo document the hell out of the car before it goes in the shop. If they put some different lackey on the job instead of farming it out like they should have done the first time I'd be concerned they might end up damaging the trim around the windows and such if they try to razor-blade the existing tint off versus heat-gunning it off.

Be sure to check the rear window defrost especially after you get it back. It's very easy to damage the heating grid removing tint.

How do you check it? Isn’t the grid within the window?

they said they’re farming it out to another shop, i requested they pay the price for me to do it at another shop but they refused when I told them it’s $500 for the removal and install of new tint.

I’ll take plenty of pictures once the sun goes down as the glare doesn’t help photos. And also at the shop tomorrow inside and outside of the windows.

Lol. I’d go out of my way to find every thing possible to make them re do it an additional time just for that attitude.

Should get rid of water, pour some on the back window and let it heat up?

Grid is stuck to window. If you get the window to fog up, it's easy to see if all the wires work. IR camera should work. You can probably even feel the heat from each wire to see if it's working.

Good idea with the fog

Visually would be where I'd start when you pick up. And then hope for a good frost one morning before spring where you can turn it on and visually look at each individual line and ensure it's working. Unfortunately the the latter bit it's typically too late to take issue with the job having damaged something by that point, so yeah, visual inspection at pickup for sure.

But if they're farming it out it means they likely learned their lesson. A quality tint shop should have no problem removing the existing tint without damaging anything. Assuming they're sending it to a quality tint shop, not "some guy we found on Kijiji". I'd definitely insist on knowing where it's going - if they refuse to tell you, well, I don't know about you, but that would irk me personally.

You could always use the OnStar location feature to figure out where they sent it anyways and just pop in when it gets there. ;)

would have been funny if they actually released it on April first. hence the term "apparently", and take at "face value"....

If you believed it, well, I have this bridge............

no worries, I don't deal with crooked companies.

not only are they clueless with trying to pass off a diesel as "clean", its apparent they are clueless in marketing as well.

Definitely won't be a VW or Audi product in my future anytime soon.

If you believe they were the only ones cheating on diesel emissions, well, I have another bridge. Similar, but different.

Scary part is, they got caught by "accident"

Otherwise we'd all still be driving and nauseated by the brilliant VW marketing "CLEAN" diesels today........ "we've sold more clean diesels in the US then everybody else combined"

great for our environment. Thanks VW. Profits come first. Cheers....

Went to pick up the Volt today...second attempt at the tint was better...but still ****. I told them to either remove the tint, or give me $150 as that's the quote to remove it by a shop. They're removing the tint.

More bubbles, more uneven cuts...ridiculous. I'm done with that dealer.
