Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Not yet ready for a full electric unfortunately.

I get it. That's the reason we still have our Volt with the full BEV Ioniq is the second car. When we want to just take off and get somewhere fast without worrying about charging, we take the Volt. Obviously for pulling the trailer the Volt is the go-to as well.

Congrats on the new wheels. I've honestly lost track of how many people in this thread have ended up behind the wheel of an EV after reading the saga.

but if I came into money tomorrow I'd get something fun and noisy in a heartbeat.

Go rent a Vette or something for a weekend. After a few $100+ fillups you might not miss it that much. ;)

The first big test-tow I did with the Volt I burned through 25L of fuel in the 125KM or so I towed. After filling up again I was quickly reminded how much I don't miss the $$.

I was low on gas in the 2017 Volt so was keeping an eye for a good price to put about $10 in. At the last second I pull into the local Esso and as I'm pulling in my mind's going "okay, what side is the freakin' gas cap on so I can pick the proper pump?".

Btw, anyone got an older plate than GVAC? I decided to keep the plate from when I had my 2014 Volt. One of them is starting to delaminate but I put a plate protector over it to make it last ... guess subconsciously I enjoy being an early adopter.

I assume you are asking about green plates? If normal plates are included I have three number, three letter plates (starting with zero) from ~ mid 90's with >>1M km on them. When I change vehicles, the dealers freak out that I am putting ugly old plates on.

Those are some old plates but yes was referring to the green GV plates only.

The new ram TRX - 21.8L/100km was the best someone got on highway.
takes premium in a 125L tank.

Looks like fun but my wallet would not enjoy that.

What is it at now? we have a GVAY

I swear I've seen GVC? plates out on the road.

We have GVAN and GVAX.

I've seen GVB's on the road now.

As for low digit plates, I have an old (60's I think) 5 digit trailer plate that belonged to my dad. I thought about trying to get the ownership of it sorted out and then use it for our new camper but deep down inside I know that's a dogs breakfast in the making - the last trailer I remember it being attached to was a 1981 park model, and even then I have my doubts it was ever actually registered to that trailer (as it didn't go far) and isn't still connected in the computer system to some 1965 trailer somewhere sitting in a field. Or a landfill. Either way, I'll just keep it hanging on the wall in the basement..

It's on the right side. The little arrow beside the gas pump on your dash told me so.

I put gas in my Volt so seldom I still need to look at that little arrow every....single.....time.

With the trailer now I suspect I'm going to get far more familiar with the gas pump again. 30L tank and likely in the range of 15-18L/100KM when towing is going to result in sorta frequent fuel stops lol.

Speaking of licence plates (Check this one out...), I was looking for a photo in my Google Photos archive tonight and came across this photo I snapped in 2011 at the GM headquarters in Oshawa.

I remember taking this photo. It was the first time I'd ever see a Volt...or any EV for that matter. I stared at it and gawked through the windows like a kid in a candy store for probably 20 minutes.

This was before they were even technically available in Canada (the 2011 was never officially sold here) and they were still insane $$. I was basically dreaming. 6 years later we owned one.

Makes you wonder where the other 412 went if that was way back then ... likely Gov't fleets I'm sure.

Around that time the iMiEV and the Leaf were just trickling into the country as well, both of which were eligible for the plates...but there was quite a few Volts humming around Oshawa at that time as well so I wouldn't doubt GM snapped up quite a few of them. Tesla Roadsters as well - if you Google GVAA-001 you'll quickly find the guy who owns that plate.
